The WWE has sparked an enormous amount of interest throughout the years, with kids in their makeshift or homemade wrestling outfits roleplaying as their favorites and reenacting certain moves. The sport was able to inspire the youth and encourage them to chase their wildest dreams of becoming one of them. In the world of gaming, they certainly have left quite an impression, especially with this year’s entry: WWE 2K24 where a plethora of legendary and present wrestlers gets to share the ring and duke it out.

Sports games are a commodity at this point in the gaming space, some versions may launch perfectly while others can be a little shotty, and give or take a few months they will certainly lose value. Those who grew up fantasizing about the ultimate experience may get to fulfill their childhood dreams with the return of famous wrestlers. Fans and supporters will still buy them and WWE 2K24 makes it a compelling day one must buy with new features and match types as well as Gauntlet and Ambulance and two MyRise Storylines.

With over 200+ playable characters, players will surely get their money’s worth. An expansive roster of wrestling icons along with the current lineup will culminate as the ultimate synergy combining brawns and charisma. Bringing back legacy characters is a trend nowadays but when done right, the end result is worth it. Divided into categories like RAW, SmackDown, NXT, Managers, Valhalla, and Legends/Alumni will give players a ton of options.

There are four different editions namely the Standard edition which is the least expensive way to get into the game. Followed by the Deluxe edition that has other goodies such as a Season Pass for any downloadable content beyond launch. Lastly, The Forty Years of WrestleMania Edition has everything the deluxe edition has and then some.

Alternate cosmetic items such as skins for specific wrestlers as well as being able to instantly unlock Showcase characters including the ring for WrestleMania 40. Launching on all consoles except for the Nintendo Switch, WWE 2K24 will feature a similar game mode that was done a decade prior, Showcase of the Immortals which will allow players to recreate historical moments and highlights as they progress and unlock new matches along the way.

The future of WWE

People will still buy the game regardless of how similar the content was from the previous installment, and that is quite okay. The formula works and the game continues to remain relevant and entertaining which is what it is all about.

Wrestling may seem like a mindless sport but only to those who criticize rather than enjoy it for what it is. Surely after another decade, the publisher known as 2K will continue to release these titles and eventually have a follow-up for this year’s Showcase of Immortals and will carry on the legacy of WWE

Of course WWE 2K24 is a timely distraction for fans, with the allegations surrounding Vince McMahon and Brock Lesner, and the uproar of The Rock’s return and how that was handled.
