Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch turning into a full-blown villain to reunite with her sons, Billy and Tommy. While many fans couldn’t agree on this major plot of turning an incredible character into an antagonist, she was unhappy with what writer, Michael Waldron did to her MCU character. It is not very shocking given that the actress has already spilled the beans that the movie writers hadn’t watched her show, WandaVision.

The Disney+ series revolves around Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Vision living in an idyllic suburban life as a married couple with two children. As the show progresses, audiences get to see that there is something deep troubling going on in Westview. Given that it explored the true nature of Wanda’s abilities, the show received major acclaim for its creative approach along with its impact on the larger MCU. However, the next we saw Wanda was in Benedict Cumberbatch’s movie with the character getting corrupted after possessing Darkhold. Though it garnered mixed reviews from critics, the former was unhappy with her character’s approach in the movie.

Recently, a resurfaced interview of Elizabeth Olsen is making rounds on the Internet where she reflected on playing her Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. From the likes of it, she was seemingly unhappy with how her character was written in the movie despite it having a connection with her Disney+ series, WandaVision. She shared in the resurfaced Vanity Fair interview,

“It’s a similar arc that I had to play in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There could be parallel stories being told there, of dealing with grief and loss.”

She also revealed that the movie writers had not seen her series at the time.

“Well, I proposed that to the writers who wrote Multiverse of Madness. I said ‘Do you know what we’re doing in WandaVision? Have you seen it?’ and no, they had not seen it, because it wasn’t finished yet. So I had to try and, I don’t know, play it differently, right? I had to attack the same themes in order for it to be interesting for me, I think, and potentially for the audience. I had to come at it from a different point of view so that it wasn’t repetitive.”

For the unversed, Benedict Cumberbatch’s movie began production soon after the MCU series aired in January 2021. She was hoping to keep Wanda’s storyline as consistent as possible in the movie. This video resurfaced as the movie writer, Michael Waldron gets onboard to pen for an anticipated Marvel project.
