Nobody was upset that it didn’t happen. I feel like when the Golden Globe happened (she won Best Actress), a lot of people who are very far away from the industry just kind of thought it was the Oscars.

For her, losing to Emma Stone for the Best Actress category was something trivial. The impact and significance of the movie that she did with director Martin Scorsese and costar Leonardo DiCaprio was more important than any award.

It’s about the fact that [the film has] been awarded, and it’s historic, and it’s still just a really meaningful moment. So it’s irrelevant whether or not I walked home with that statue in hand.

She claimed that “regardless of how things turned out, I have work coming out, and I have work lined up.” Indeed, Gladstone is not letting the loss stop her from doing more projects.

In fact, Fancy Dance, helmed by Native writer-director Erica Tremblay, is already on deck. She was also offered to lead the adaptation of Yoko Ogawa’s sci-fi novel Memory Police. With all this work on her plate, Gladstone has no time to wallow in her Oscars defeat.

Lily Gladstone revealed she has become friends with Emma Stone. Their nominations at the Oscars event became the way for them to meet, and despite the competition, both of them value their friendship more than anything. In her interview with Vanity Fair, the 37-year-old actress shared:

My Infinity Stones ring— Emma Stone has the same one. She sent this to me yesterday, and then she sent me a picture of her wearing the same one because we became fast friends in this whole process. And that’s our thing. We call each other Infinity Stones.

The Infinity Stones are definitely a reference to their last names. Interestingly, The Amazing Spider-Man actress had the most hilarious reaction when she lost to Gladstone during the SAG Awards. They were both nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role where the Killers of the Flower Moon star won.

Stone’s enthusiastic reaction was praised by netizens, while Gladstone seemed to be in shock upon the announcement of her name.
