Spyro the Dragon fans can rejoice as a new title seems to be headed for release in the near future. Recently, an Xbox Dev-Kit was found preserving an unreleased Crash vs. Spyro Racing Game, from back when both Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon were every kid’s beloved games. While Crash Bandicoot has had several iterations, the last new Spyro game was all the way back in 2008.
There now seems to be a new title on the way, as the Character and Environment Designer for past games in the series has a “mystery” art concept password-locked for a 5th October announcement.
Spyro Game To Be Announced Next Week
A Reddit post has unveiled details of an upcoming Spyro game, sharing details about the game along with a probable announcement date. Nicholas Kole, who had earlier worked for Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, is reportedly helming the character and environment design for the upcoming game.
Concept art for the game was reportedly shared by Kole on his portfolio website, however, the concept art is currently password-locked, with the title “Mystery”. Kole’s portfolio will be followed keenly for the next week for any revelations related to the game.

According to the Reddit post, the game will be announced on the 5th of October and will launch on Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 sometime next year, along with a PC release by Q4 next year. The game will be more or less like the Legend of Spyro series of games, with no RPG fighting.
Cynder is said to be a playable character in the game, although it’s highly unlikely to be playing alongside Spyro. The game is said to be based on the multiverse scenario as seen on Ratchet & Clank. The two characters are said to have their separate story mode but will have consequences that affect the other characters.
Fans Hope The Reports Are True, While Many Remain Skeptical
While many gamers feel excited about the new title, many still feel quite skeptical that the reports will hold any truth. Just a few days back, a Dev-Kit of the original Xbox was found with an unreleased game featuring Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot, in a cross-over nobody would have seen coming. The game, titled Crash vs. Spyro Racing Game remained playable and featured a go-kart racing game that included just one track and a bunch of power-ups to gain advantage like a Mario Kart game. The discovery also led many to hope for the game to come to fruition sometime in the near future.
October 5th isn’t too far away and if an announcement is made as reported, it’s bound to make fans quite happy.
