Hence, this is the reason that the show stands out among anime fans and contends to be number one. However, in the 6th season of the show, Horikoshi-san decided to delay the death of a fan-favorite yet polarizing character from the series.

No, it’s not All Might but Endeavor, who was meant to have an early exit from the show, until the mangaka decided to delay his demise.

Kohei Horikoshi Decided To Postpone The Death of Endeavor

Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia features its most flawed character, Endeavor as one of the most prominent heroes of the show. The character is the second highest-ranked Pro Hero in Japan, right after All Might.

But it is his complex personality and questionable actions that have made him one of the most polarizing characters in the entire series.

With the end of the 6th season and the 7th season around the corner, a surprising statement has been shared by the manga artist of the series. During the Jump Festa 2024 via Shindo Log, Kohei Horikoshi shared the most shocking statement regarding the Pro-Hero Endeavor was originally meant to kick the bucket during the 6th season.

However, he changed his mind when he was drawing the High-End battle in Kyushu. He said,

“Actually, Endeavor was scheduled to die during the battle in the 6th season, but we decided to change it when we were drawing the high-end battle in Kyushu.”

The statement was surprising to listen to because Endeavor played a crucial role in the second decisive battle, where he went all out against his foes. Since the mangaka delayed his death, there was a little delay after the High-End Battle because I was a little sluggish...”

Nevertheless, fans of the series would be immensely grateful to the mangaka for altering his plans because they would not have seen his death coming.

Kohei Horikoshi Was Taken By Surprise When MHA Fans Loved Katsuki Bakugo

Indeed, My Hero Academia is one of the best new-gen anime series, which is great on its own accord. The series features several characters who became an instant fan-favorite. However, the mangaka of the Shonen series was perplexed because he designed Bakugo to ensure that he would receive backlash from the fans.

The mangaka was present during the Comic-Con event, where he sat down and answered a plethora of questions revolving around the series and its characters. It was during this session, that ANN asked him, Is there a character that you’ve created that fans reacted to in a way you didn’t expect?

Horikoshi-San replied,

Bakugo has been a bit of a surprise. I assumed everyone would hate him, but it’s been the opposite. In the character questionnaires we do, Bakugo comes in #1 most popular.

To justify his answer, the manga artist added,

“Bakugo has always been the bully, and he ends up going to school with Deku. So I had them in a big fight pretty early on, but through that fight you were able to see Bakugo’s humanity, that he was just a short-tempered kid.

Well, fans of the series indeed hated Bakugo at first, but as the series progressed, they started to like personality traits and his hunger to be the very best resonated very positively with them.

My Hero Academia Season 7 will release on 4 May 2024.
