Avengers: Secret Wars is still several years away, and the main plot is likely to change depending on how events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe unfold in the meantime. A few heroes will most likely take on key roles on the main team, though Secret Wars will likely perform a little juggling act to ensure that everyone gets equal attention. However, an MCU theory names a Marvel hero as the main leader, and it is not Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.

Indeed, Spider-Man is one of the characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to receive four solo films. With his appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has grown in popularity since making his screen debut in Captain America: Civil War. And, with this MCU theory, it looks like the web-slinger will play a major role in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga.

Smart MCU Theory: Spider-Man Leads The Avengers: Secret Wars

A popular Reddit theory by user Handsart suggested that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home might contain a major hint to the MCU’s take on Avengers: Secret Wars.

As you may recall, Peter Parker was erased from everyone’s memory—including his allies and friends—at the 2021 film’s end, leaving him to continue being Spider-Man on his own. Theoretically, it could provide him with a distinct viewpoint that will be important when Avengers: Secret Wars releases.

That might protect Peter from the effects of Multiversal incursions, based on the theory put forth on Reddit. Thus, he is positioned to act as a powerful stand-in for the audience and also to unite the other Avengers to reverse any negative effects on the Multiverse.

Parker, as a result of his role at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, has the potential to become a powerful figure in Avengers: Secret Wars—perhaps even as the leader who leads the Avengers to victory. As Phase Five progresses, the theory appears to hold true, although there is still a lot of story to tell.

Well, fans are speculating about which MCU character will show up in Avengers: Secret Wars. Thanos, played by Josh Brolin, might be one of them. Speaking with Digital Spy, the Deadpool 2 star revealed his thoughts on Thanos’ eventual reappearance in the MCU. When asked if he was excited to take on the role again, Brolin responded:

“It’s not that I don’t have an interest. They have their own trajectory that they’re worrying about, and if they want me to do it, I would do it I’m sure.”

Furthermore, there are persistent rumors that President Kevin Feige is considering an MCU soft reboot of Avengers: Secret Wars. The author of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, Joanna Robinson, made the following statement on The Watch:

“We have a quote from Kevin Feige sort of implying that, like, Secret Wars will serve as a soft reboot in which they can prune everything… That’s not to use a Loki-ism. [They’ll] prune everything that’s not working and just keep what is [working], or bring back people you thought were gone forever.”
