The Hollywood star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, often referred to as the Austrian Oak, has left an indelible mark on the action genre in the industry. Throughout his decades-long career, he has worked alongside some prominent names in the industry, including James Cameron. Having collaborated on the 1984 film The Terminator, the director wanted to cast Schwarzenegger as the villain Dr. Octopus in his canceled Spider-Man movie.
While the movie never saw the light of day and the Predator star did not get to play the Marvel villain, fans have come up with a new Marvel role the actor could play alongside Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool film series.
Fans Suggest a New Role For Arnold Schwarzenegger in Deadpool
Arnold Schwarzenegger has several blockbusters under his name. The action star, known for starring in movies like The Terminator, Predator, Commando, and many others, was once in line to play the Marvel villain in James Cameron’s Spider-Man.
And the actor has now become fans’ choice to play the role of Colossus from X-Men. Having the ability to transform his body into organic steel, the character has been seen in several X-Men movies. Donald Mackinnon had a cameo in the first X-Men film as Colossus. Daniel Cudmore also portrayed the character in X2, The Last Stand, and Days of Future Past.
Colossus has recently been seen trying to convince Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool to mend his ways and join X-Men in the Deadpool film series. The Serbian actor Stefan Kapičić voiced the character that joined the franchise through CGI.
However, fans believe that Schwarzenegger would have been the perfect actor to play the role of the X-Men. While there are many other roles Marvel fans want him to play, some of them have claimed that he would have been great taking on the role of Colossus in the X-Men franchise.

It Took 5 Actors to Bring Colossus to Life in Deadpool
Considering Colossus appeared in the X-Men movies, director Tim Miller wanted to redesign the character more like comics. Daniel Cudmore shared that he was asked to reprise his role but denied the offer after learning that he would be a CGI stand-in for the character, with another actor voicing the X-Men.
And a breakdown video from Wired revealed that it took five actors to bring Colossus to life in the 2016 movie. One actor in the studio, one tall actor in the CGI suit on location, one for the facial model, one facial performer, and another for the voice.
As per IndieWire, Andrei Tricoteux and T.J. Storm provided motion-capture stunts, Glenn Ennis provided Colossus’ facial model, and Greg LaSalle gave the final facial performance. VFX supervisor Alex Wang also said that they “looked at Arnold Schwarzenegger during his body-building days” for the character’s physical appearance.
Stefan Kapičić was cast to voice the character as the filmmaker wanted Colossus to have a Russian accent in the movie. Following his appearance in the sequel, Kapičić will again voice the character in the highly anticipated film Deadpool 3.
Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are available on Disney+.
Deadpool 3 is set to release on 3 May 2024.
