Jesse Eisenberg can be easily considered one of Hollywood’s bright young talents with his acting efforts in films like David Fincher’s The Social Network, and his unhinged portrayal of Lex Luthor in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. With a combination of boyish charm and strong acting skills, Eisenberg has proved that he can make any character his own.
In 2013, the Oscar nominee shared screen space with the likes of Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman in the heist thriller Now You See Me. Now You See Me Made Jesse Eisenberg A More Confident Artist
In 2013, Jesse Eisenberg starred in Now You See Me, a heist thriller about four thieves who are also a group of illusionists and magicians, who pull off bank robberies during their performances and reward their audiences with the money. Eisenberg, who played one of the con men, impressed audiences with the entertaining film that also did well at the box office.
Apart from the privilege of sharing screen space with the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Woody Harrelson, The Social Network actor also revealed that the film and its sequel which came out in 2016, helped him a great deal to build confidence as an actor. Speaking to Collider, Eisenberg confessed that despite being seen as an artist of repute after working with David Fincher and Zack Snyder, he lacked belief in himself and his work before starring in Now You See Me.
“I’m a very unconfident performer experiencing self-doubt. I don’t watch any of the movies I’ve been in, I try to avoid still frames of the movies. I don’t wanna see myself because I’m just encumbered with my own anxieties about myself. So getting to be a performer that feels good about himself and actually be on a movie set where I am performing is the most method I felt. I walk around almost arrogant on these sets.”
Eisenberg added that playing a magician in the film, enabled him to explore his capabilities as a performer on screen, which then translated to a new confidence as an actor on set. The entertaining aspect of the role also gave him space to have fun on and off-screen.
Jesse Eisenberg Is Excited About Now You See Me 3
While Jesse Eisenberg is known to have played some pretty intense roles in his career thus far, the actor, by his own admission, revealed that his role of a magician and thief in the Now You See Me films was a welcome change from his other parts and one that gave him a lot of confidence as an artist. With a 3rd film in the series now on the cards, Eisenberg spoke to Coming Soon on reprising role once again, and the reasons he loved this character.
“I can’t wait. Unlike a movie like this where my character’s experiencing such deep rage, anxiety and depression, my character in that is so confident and is a performer and a showman and it’s just a breath of fresh air, as an actor, to get to live in that kind of world too.”
While the first two films did not find too much favor with critics, they ended up becoming surprise hits with the audiences. With Eisenberg’s charismatic performance being praised, fans will be eager to see what the talented actor brings to the table in the 3rd film.
