The leaks for Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 continue to surface, and the latest one suggests Peter Parker may not be swinging through New York City anymore. Instead, fans might be getting Silk as a playable character, diverting away from Peter Parker, who was featured in the first two games of the franchise.

Fans are also speculating that Miles Morales could take center stage along with Silk. However, this won’t be surprising as he already had a standalone game and is featured in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Given that Peter Parker has been a franchise staple, this could be a bold move from Insomniac Games if these leaks are real.

Peter Might be Missing in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

It’s worth noting only two images have leaked, both featuring what looks like Silk. The graphics of the screenshot are super low, likely due to them being from early stages of development. That said, nothing has been confirmed or officially addressed by Insomniac.

The potential addition of Silk to Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 shouldn’t come as a surprise. At the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we are introduced to Albert Moon, Rio Morales’s boyfriend. When Moon visits Miles’ home for dinner, he comes with his daughter Cindy, who we can’t actually see in the cutscene. Although not confirmed, she is likely Cindy Moon, whose alias is Silk in the Marvel Universe.

Since Silk already had a soft launch at the end of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, players can expect her to be a part of Marvel’s Spider-Man 3.

Unsurprisingly, with Silk and Miles in the spotlight, we could see Peter Parker’s screentime significantly reduced, or he might not be part of the next game at all. However, at this point it is all mere speculation.

How Insomniac Games Might Avoid Peter Parker in the Next Game

Peter Parker could be retiring

Obviously, removing Peter Parker from the storyline of the next game will be a risky move for the developers. Not only is he the most recognized Spider-Man, but he also headlined the first two games. However, introducing a new protagonist could entice more fans, and since the Spider-Verse is full of powerful characters, it shouldn’t be a hard task to do.

While the first game saw Peter embracing the role of Spider-Man, the second game’s story showed that it’s taking a toll on his personal life. Hence, after defeating Venom in the second game, he takes a backseat, allowing Miles to become the main hero.

This has led some gamers on social media to hypothesize that the original Spider-Man is gone for good.

Insomniac Games could just run with this preset narrative in Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 and show Peter as a retired hero. Some fans are speculating that Peter dies between the second and third game to propel Silk and Miles on a quest for revenge.

However, nothing can be said for sure at this point in time. Furthermore, a lot can change before the game is released, so we will have to wait if Insomniac addresses the leaks.
