Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is all set for an October 20th release, and fans are impatiently waiting to take on Venom and Kraven the Hunter in the game. The sequel will be Insomniac’s biggest title to come out this year, and all the teasers and trailers so far have only got fans more hyped for the game.

In the midst of all this, Insomniac has hinted very subtly about the possibility of a third title in the series, but wouldn’t talk about the game just yet, as the focus remains on the sequel coming out next month, which has recently gone Gold.

Earlier this week, Narrative Director Ben Arfmann and Advanced Sr. Writer Lauren Mee, sat down for an interview with Gizmodo and discussed Insomniac Games’ upcoming game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The game is coming out to PlayStation 5 in less than a month on the 20th of October. While Afrmann and Mee shared their views about Spider-Man 2, they also teased what’s in store for the future of the series.

When asked about the possibility of future titles in the series, Arfmann reluctantly revealed how he wished he could start sharing details about the next title, but insisted on talking about what to expect from Spider-Man 2 for the moment. Arfmann shared his views saying how the development team absolutely loves the upcoming game, and that they wish the fans to be just as excited and love the game just the same as he and others at Insomniac, once they’re done playing it.

Arfmann also added the following in his interview:

“All the pieces are in place for one of the most exciting and high-stakes Spider-Man stories of all time. In short, this is shaping up to be the perfect sequel: bigger, faster, and altogether more spidery than its predecessors”.

The first game in the franchise, 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man revealed a symbiote in a post-credit scene featuring Harry Osborne, using green lighting in the scene from revealing whether it was Venom or Carnage, in the scene. With the sequel’s trailer now revealing Venom from being the game and Peter Parker taking on the symbiote suit, there’s not much to tell about the twists that fans might still see in the game.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 also features Kraven the Hunter and Lizard as the other two antagonists in the game, with Mysterio also having a possibility of appearing in the game. However, that shouldn’t cut the excitement from a third title that could still potentially feature many more interesting characters and antagonists in the game.

Mee also chimed in with her thoughts about how the expectation is for gamers to “finish the game and go, ‘…I need more of this”. Director of Community and Marketing, James Stevenson went on to mention there may also be a post-credits scene in the game, to which Arfmann added,

“Yeah, it’s definitely a Marvel experience”.

It’s anyone’s guess where a third title will take fans of the series, as Marvel still has a strong line-up of Spidey antagonists who could still make an appearance in a game for the first time.
