Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto are two of the world’s most successful anime and manga series, with massive fan bases that have made them popular worldwide. Naruto is a Shonen classic and one of the Legendary Big Three. Jujutsu Kaisen is well on its journey toward becoming one of the best new-generation anime. While they feature separate plots and characters, indisputable parallels have led to similarities between the two shows. Creator Geke Akutami once stated that Naruto was a key influence in the development of Jujutsu Kaisen. Many similarities exist between Satoru Gojo of Jujutsu Kaisen and Kakashi Hatake of Naruto. Both anime use hand signs to summon external beings to aid in the fight. Many other similarities have also been pointed out by the fans.

Many fans believed that Gojo’s six-eyes ability was a clever ripoff of Naruto‘s varied eye techniques like Sharingan and Rinnegan. But another similarity has been pointed out recently that may have been a better ripoff of the Uchiha clan Sharingan’s Izanagi.

Haruta Shigemo’s Miracles is a Clever Ripoff of Izanagi

Haruta Shigemo appears as an enemy in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. He is a curse user who supports Uraume and Pseudo-Geto’s evil sorcerers. Shigemo was present at both the invasion of Jujutsu High’s Goodwill Event and the Shibuya Incident. Shigemo possessed a rare talent known as a miracle. It collects minor everyday “miracles” and releases them when his life is in jeopardy to save him. Small marvels that the user encounters in their daily lives are erased and preserved. These miracles are activated when the user’s life is in jeopardy, modifying their luck to allow them to survive what would otherwise be a lethal injury.

It is similar to Izanagi which helps the users to protect themselves, negating any injuries they receive or even their deaths. However, Izanagi may give the user permanent blindness and is considered a big flaw, which may not be the case with Miracle.

How Does Izanagi Work?

Izanagi is a genjutsu that uses the Sharingan. With Izanagi, the user creates an illusion of reality, allowing the user power over what is and is not real for the duration of Izanagi’s use. Users generally do this to defend themselves, negating any damage or even deaths. When this happens, their injured self fades away as an illusion, and their non-injured self appears in place of the prior self. Izanagi is based on the Sage of Six Paths’ Creation of All Things Technique, which he uses to convert his imagination into reality.

There are many other similarities and ripoffs pointed out by fans in the series, however, despite so many parallels, the storyline of both series is completely different and offers a different perspective as a whole.
