Contrary to the early predictions, The Flash is currently struggling at the box office despite garnering decent reviews, as the film witnessed a historic drop of over 70% in its second weekend at the box office. Several major factors have affected the movie’s poor box-office run, with the major ones being Ezra Miller’s situation and fierce competition against Across the Spider-Verse.

However, this wasn’t the only bad news for the film, as recently the entire movie got leaked on Twitter, only worsening the situation for the movie, which marked the end of the struggling DCEU.

Fans troll The Flash after the film gets leaked on Twitter

Piracy of movies has always been a major concern for studios and it appears The Flash too isn’t immune to it, even though the film is still in its second week. Twitter user @BriYoshFR, whose account has been suspended now, recently leaked the entire 2 Hours 24 Minutes Movie on Twitter, as a result of the perks of having a Twitter Blue subscription. Although the film was entirely taken down, considering that it was uploaded in the early hours of Sunday, it managed to pull around 1.7M views throughout its span of 8 hours.

Reflecting on the situation and the movie’s poor box office performance, fans haven’t stopped taking jabs at the film while joking about the entire fiasco.

Although there were initial reports of a possible sequel to the Ezra Miller-led movie, with the film struggling hard at theatres, the future of The Flash 2 doesn’t appear too bright.

The future for The Flash sequel doesn’t appear bright

Before The Flash made its initial debut at the box office with an underwhelming $55M opening, there were reports of a sequel being in the talks. However, in order to greenlight a sequel for the scarlet-speedster, the movie had to make big numbers at the box office like The Batman‘s collection of $771 million. But with the film struggling to compete against Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and currently sitting at $210.9 million, the future of the sequel seems to be washing off.

Although the current box-office numbers are a bit worrying for a sequel to the Miller-led film, at least the film was able to conclude the struggling DCEU in a great manner. And despite some of its flaws and controversies around its lead, the film did provide a great experience and is definitely one of the better films to come out of this universe.

The Flash is currently running in theatres.
