Halle Berry Prefers Hugh Jackman To Be The Next James Bond

Joining the James Bond franchise in Die Another Day, Halle Berry accumulated immense love and fan following for her portrayal of Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson. Fans loved to see her working alongside Pierce Brosnan in the film, and how she was a dynamic and a capable counterpart of the Special Agent.

However, Craig’s time as the Special Agent 007 is over, and many fans have wondered who will bag the iconic role. Due to Berry’s influence in the film, she was asked by Today, which actor is good enough to replace the Quantum of Solace actor in the spy franchise. The actress answered,

“I’d wanna see Hugh Jackman or Idris Elba. I would go for him.”

While opinion varies, Henry Cavill is strongly linked to the character as a major possibility, as he has definitely got the sharp looks and a physique that would greatly compliment the iconic character. Moreover, he had previously for the role in the 2006 film, Casino Royale but got turned down as Daniel Craig met the requirements. However, he lost the role because of a special reason which makes him presently a strong contender for the role.

Henry Cavill Lost James Bond’s Role Because He Was Too Young

Even though it has not been publicly announced Henry Cavill is the top contender for the role, and an interesting aspect about him is that he had been in the picture long before Daniel Craig was even part of the franchise. The actor had been transparent about the fact that lost the role to Daniel Craig. Martin Campbell, the director of Casino Royale told Express, that Cavill’s age was the main concern that hindered him from bagging the role.

“He looked great in the audition. His acting was tremendous. And look, if Daniel didn’t exist Henry would have made an excellent Bond. He looked terrific, he was in great physical shape… very handsome, very chiselled. He just looked a little young at that time back then.”

The Enola Holmes actor was in his early twenties, and he was immensely impressed with his performance. Cavill is now 40 years old, the actor is at the age, where he fits the looks of a veteran agent, who can carry out secret missions with ease. Moreover, his performance in Mission: Impossible – Fallout as August Walker shows that he can easily nail James Bond’s role.
