Since its release, Boruto has always been compared to Naruto. Be it the entire anime series or the protagonist, Boruto as a character had to live up to the name that his father Naruto has made as one of the best anime characters and one of the best anime series. This has led fans to be disappointed as becoming worthy of the Naruto name is not an easy task.

However, as the story progresses, Boruto has slowly developed a personality of his own and while not have been able to reach the status of his father, fans have been seeing him as a decent protagonist who is trying to save his father and the entire Konoha village while being called a rogue ninja.

While fans compare Boruto with Naruto, they might not know that Boruto has proved himself to be smarter than not just Naruto but many major Naruto anime characters. A Boruto novel has proved that Boruto might not only live up to his father’s name but may even surpass it in terms of intelligence and smartness.

Boruto’s Comparison With Naruto

Whenever Boruto is compared to his father, he always falls short in terms of hard work, predictability, combat, power, and much more. This is because the two had entirely different childhoods. While Naruto was shunned from the village and was left all alone because of him being a jinchuriki, Boruto was always respected as the Hokage’s son.

This is why both Boruto and Naruto grew up to be entirely different characters. Naruto’s surroundings and fate forced him to work hard and become more powerful to earn the respect of his village. However, Boruto is facing all these things just now, in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, but earlier, he was shown as a lazy character who would easily choose a simple path rather than working hard.

While Boruto lacked in a lot of places compared to his father, the one thing that the series has shown continuously is that Boruto is way smarter than Naruto was at his age. In fact, Boruto has been depicted as one of the smartest ninja students in the series, which makes him more intelligent than many other Naruto characters.

Boruto is Much More Smarter Than Naruto

It was disclosed in the final novel in the Boruto series, Final Days At The Ninja Academy, that Boruto scored much greater on the Genin Exams than not just his father but also every other student in his class. The fact that Sarada Uchiha took the exam adds to the surprise since it shows that Boruto defeated Sakura’s daughter and Sasuke in the realm of intelligence.

The series has already demonstrated Boruto’s intelligence on previous occasions. Boruto has a sharp mind and absorbs new information rapidly. His father was not a good student, but he is, and he applies what he learns quickly and with flexibility. This proves that although Boruto may fall behind Naruto in a lot of areas, the one thing where he succeeds is intelligence.

Boruto’s smartness has been witnessed a couple of times in the story and it not only separates the character from his father’s shadows, it also gives him a chance to prove himself worthy of his name and maybe even surpass him as a character in the series.
