James Gunn’s DCU has found its Supergirl in actress Milly Alcock, who was recently reported to have been cast in the role. As a result, fans have become curious about plans for the character’s solo outing in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which was first announced in January 2023. Fans have been debating who should direct the film and the Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn has thrown his hat in the ring.
While promoting his new film Argylle, Vaughn addressed the possibility of directing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, while Vaughn remains a solid pick for the job, fans are leaning in a different direction. Some fans have expressed a desire to see one Loki season 1 director helming the solo project and here is everything you need to know in that regard.
Matthew Vaughn Addresses the Possibility of Directing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
Matthew Vaughn is no stranger to the superhero genre as he has directed the cult classic 2010 film Kick-Ass and its sequel. Vaughn also directed 2011’s X-Men: First Class. He was once rumored to be in consideration for directing a sequel to Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel. However, Vaughn has now spoken about the possibility of directing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU.
In an interview with BroBible, Vaughn spoke about Milly Alcock being cast as Supergirl and discussed whether he would be interested in directing the solo film based on the character. Vaughn stated that while he had not been approached by the studio yet, he could be interested in directing the film.
“Never say never. I’m a big fan of James Gunn and Peter Safran, so yeah, I would consider it.”
Vaughn made the above statement clarifying his stance on potentially directing Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Despite Vaughn’s track record in superhero films and blockbuster filmmaking in general, fans of the DC Comics franchise have been clamoring for a different director to helm the project.
Fans Want Loki Director Kate Herron to Helm Milly Alcock’s Supergirl Movie

As a result, fans engaged in a debate over social media about who should direct the feature film. Some fans were very vocal about Loki director Kate Herron taking the director’s chair.
