Being such a popular game, as well as a show, celebrities too are big fans of it. One such celebrity is Dwayne Johnson’s friend. One of Johnson’s best friends from WWE was also a huge Pokemon enthusiast. Knowing this, his fans eagerly wanted to know who the Pokemon lover was and how did he come to be such a big enthusiast for a children’s game.

Dwayne Johnson’s Pokemon lover friend is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan. Johnson revealed it before the fans went wild thinking who it was. It may come as a surprise to many, but it is the truth. Pokemon released its first game on 27th February 1996 in Japan. The name of the game was Pokemon Red and Green. It was not until 1998 that the game hit the American market, and was an instant hit.

Hulk Hogan is one such person who immediately fell in love with it. It might come as a surprise to many, but he was the commentator during the 2006 United States National Championship tournament. It was the 10th anniversary of the franchise and was held in New York City’s Bryant Park. His presence heightened the competitive battles as well as the excitement of the tournament.

In one of the interviews with The Pokemon Company, Hogan said that kids should play Pokemon, as it will teach them about team play and important values in life. Apart from that, he also said that the game is a pure form of entertainment. Being one of the biggest entertainers of WWE, this motivated several kids back in the day.

Due to being such a Pokemon fanatic, The Pokemon Company even has a character named after him. The name of the pocket monster is Hulkan. It is green like The Incredible Hulk but has a mustache and wears glasses like Hulk Hogan. The Pokemon also wears a bandana like the former wrestler.
