Naruto is one of the greatest anime of all time. That said, it is also to be noted that the anime is a part of the original Big Three. But people often argue that he has never killed anyone in the main storyline, unlike the other anime protagonists. That is not true. He did kill a Sand Village Ninja in Naruto Shippuden named Yura.
Often treated as an outcast, his dream was to become the Hokage. Through several hardships, he achieved that dream at the end of the anime. It is fair to say that it was everyone’s dream to watch him wear the Hokage cloak. But people often question how he became a Hokage without a single kill to his name, that too when peace was just a myth. To answer it, the Orange Hokage did kill someone.
Naruto Uzumaki Has Killed Just A Single Person In The Franchise
When people hear about Naruto killing a shinobi, the first two names that pop up are Pain and Madara Uchiha. But Naruto did not kill them. The Six Paths of Pain were dead bodies used by Nagato. Killing them does not mean anything. On top of that, Nagato self-sacrificed himself to fulfill Naruto’s wish. On the other hand, Zetsu killed Madara to restore Kaguya Otsutsuki.
The only person he has ever killed in canon history is Yura. Yura is a shinobi from the Sand Village who debuted during the Kazekage Rescue Mission. Yura worked as a sleeper cell for Sasori. He passed down every piece of information about the mission to Sasori. As the story progressed, Pain changed Yura’s appearance to Itachi’s as he planned to sacrifice him.
Later, a fight broke out between him and Kakashi Hatake. It went on for a while, and ultimately, Naruto finished him off with his Wind Style: Rasengan. Even though it was a set up by Pain, the final blow was landed by the gutsy ninja. So, Yura remains his only kill in canon history.
Naruto‘s Almost Kills
Apart from Pain and Madara, several other shinobis were close to getting added to Naruto’s kill list in canon history. The first one is Kakuzu. The Seventh Hokage’s newfound technique, Wind Style: Rasen Shuriken, was too powerful for Kakuzu to handle. The attack took out two of his life. Even though he impaled him, Kakashi landed the final blow on him. So, it became Kakashi’s kill.
Another shinobi who almost got into his kill list was Momoshiki Otsutsuki. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Boruto Uzumaki fought against Momoshiki Otsutsuki. It was mainly the former duo battling against the enemy. They had weakened Momoshiki, and Sasuke finally asked Boruto to use his Rasengan. He created a Rasengan, but it was too small.
Then his father put his hand underneath his hand, and that small Rasengan became a massive ball of Chakra. Boruto used it to end Momoshiki’s terror forever. While the Seventh Hokage did most of the work, Boruto got the kill. Even Isshiki was not killed by him directly. His life force was sucked out due to Baryon Mode, which ended him. To date, Yura remains his only kill.
