With so many weapons on offer, the Helldivers 2 community is often split and confused about the best weapon in the game. The name of two weapons always comes to the forefront according to the players. One is the obvious Railgun and the other is the Arc Thrower. However, it now looks like the game indeed has the best weapon.

The best weapon in Helldivers 2

Out of the huge collection of weapons, Helldivers 2 offers to the players, there is one weapon that can be called the best in terms of its design. This was revealed by none other than the game director Johan Pilestedt. Pilestedt here is referring to the AC-8 Autocannon, which players can get as a stratagem starting at level 10.

Pilestedt made this revelation after a Helldivers 2 player praised the Autocannon for its fascinating design in a post on X. User @DocStrangelove2, praised the weapon for its oversized charging handle and a top-loading fixed magazine. While replying to the player’s tweet, Pilestedt said that he is happy to see the weapon get the recognition it deserves.

The game director replied,

Agree. I think it’s the team’s best weapon design. I am overjoyed that all the hard work they put into it gets the recognition it deserves.

However, the AC-8 Autocannon is more than just its good look. This weapon should now be the top choice for the players after the Railgun was nerfed. The Autocannon is a shoulder mounted artillery system and has the capability to fire highly accurate shots. Players will find this weapon to be very similar to a heavy rifle but they need to be careful as it implodes on impact from enemies.

For the ease of use, players can use the Autocannon like a mini grenade launcher and hit targets even from far distances. This weapon is specially great when its comes to fighting enemies with armor and is able to take them out with a couple of shots. However, the most important thing that players need to keep in mind while using the Autocannon is the number of rounds left. This is because the reload animation of the weapons takes significant amount of time.

Update 1.00.103 fixes the Patriot Exosuit and therefore from now on it will not self-destruct when shooting missiles while turning. This comes as a huge relief to the community as this issue has been bothering the players for a long time. In addition to the Exosuit, the patch notes fix the issue where enemy patrols would sometimes spawn on top of players, preventing them from avoiding damage.

Patch notes 1.00.103 also include improvements to the spawn rates of Planetary Hazards during missions as part of its balancing changes. Moreover, volcanic activity and meteor showers have had their frequency and severity reduced, and their features have been adjusted to be less problematic for the players.
