Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be James Gunn’s last project at the MCU. His relationship with the production has been sort of tumultuous. In July 2018, James Gunn, the director of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, was fired from his role as director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 by Disney following the resurfacing of some of his past controversial tweets.
