There are countless Devil Fruits in the world of One Piece and they all grant their users different powers. Some can spontaneously burst into flames, some can become beasts, while others can cause earthquakes.
However, a few fruits grant powers that confuse readers about whether they are Logia, Paramecia, or Zoan. Oda is here to clear up the confusion regarding one such fruit.
Is Doku Doku no Mi in One Piece a Paramedic or Logia-type Devil Fruit?
Eiichiro Oda answered a fan question and cleared up the confusion once and for all. According to him, Doku Doku no Mi is a Paramecia-type fruit.
“It is no more than a somewhat different Paramecia because its user can generate all kinds of poisons but not transform into it.”
The current user of the Doku Doku no Mi devil fruit is Magellan, who can cover his entire body with poison and is also immune to all kinds of poisons. Additionally, it also covers Magellan’s body and offers him protection against external attacks.
The fact that Doku Doku no Mi is a Paramecia type was also revealed in the manga when Luffy faced Caesar. Luffy told Caesar that he is immune to poisons after facing Magellan. However, Caesae feels insulted that he was being compared to a Paramecian fruit user.
Magellan can cover his body with poison and use it as a defense, but he cannot become poison himself. Thus, DokuDoku no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit.
Paramecia Vs. Logia Devil Fruits in One Piece
There are three types of Devil Fruits in One Piece: Logia, Zoan, and Paramecia. Of the three, Paramecia users are the most common, and Logia users are the rarest. Paramecia fruits grant their users different powers that they can use and develop. The Logia fruits, on the other hand, let the users create and control a natural element and transform their bodies into it.
Most of the time, Logia users are stronger than Paramecia ones as Logia fruits help their users transform their entire body, and they are mostly immune to physical attacks since they can just morph and let the element absorb the shock, rather than their body. A good example is Crocodile, Luffy had a hard time landing a hit on him as he kept dissolving into sand.
An example of Logia fruit is the Mera Mera no Mi, Ace‘s Devil Fruit that allows him to control and transform into flames. Kizaru’s Pika Pika no Mi and Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi are also Logia fruits that let them embody specific elements like light and darkness.
