Dwayne Johnson is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. But before he became famous as the box office hitmaker, Johnson was a professional wrestler and quite good at that too. Among the many wrestlers turned actors, he is probably the most famous but is offered serious competition by his WrestleMania contender John Cena.

While Dwayne Johnson might be the reigning champion of the silver screen, he was once defeated by John Cena in WrestleMania just after a year he defeated the Peacemaker star. In an interview with Sam Roberts, Brian Myers aka Curt Hawkins revealed that he helped the Jumanji star train for his match against Cena.

Dwayne Johnson and John Cena went against each other two times, once in 2012 and then again in 2013. While Rock won the first time, he was defeated by The Suicide Squad star the next time they entered the ring against each other.

While the matches were electrifying to witness, the behind-the-scenes details were revealed by the former wrestler and WWE champion Brian Myers. Also known as Curt Hawkins in the ring, Myers revealed that he and fellow wrestler Joe Hennings were roped in to be the Rock’s training partners while preparing for his match against Cena. Although Myers didn’t reveal which match he helped Rock train for.

“I was on the train to go on a date with my wife and Johnny Axe was calling me and I’m like, ‘Oh no, this can’t be good’ because I’m like jabrone Curt Hawkins doing nothing. He’s like, ‘Hey, hold on, they’re patching in Joe Henning’ and I’m going, ‘What on earth could be going on now’ and then he explained to us that Hunter decided that we would be the best candidates to be his training guys. It was pretty crazy, we were like his Secret agent crash test dummies. The travel agent would just call you at the drop of the hat and be like, ‘Dwayne wants to train tomorrow, he’s in New Orleans, here’s a 7AM there and a 7PM home.’ You’d just go and there’d be a ring set up in a warehouse.”

This insight reveals how dedicated Dwayne Johnson is. He might have lost the second time, but he did win the hearts of his fans and even Myers as he exclaimed how cool and deserving The Rock is.

Back in 2012, Dwayne Johnson went head to head with John Cena in the ring at WrestleMania 28, his first-ever singles match after nearly nine long years. He stood victorious as fans cheered on. But a year later they met again in the ring as a rematch in WrestleMania 29.

Taking place in New Jersey, this match was the main highlight of the event, and fans were considerably anticipated since Cena had already once lost to the G.I. Joe star. In a battle that lasted over 25 minutes, John Cena emerged as the champion thus avenging his previous year’s loss.

Despite the two very memorable and publicized events inside the ring, Cena and Johnson remain good friends to this day.
