Invincible had earlier announced a second and third season amidst the critical acclaim garnered by its first season. The adult animated series shocked fans with its brutal violence, in an attempt to stay faithful to its comic book source material. The show was praised for its animation, story, and voice acting. A prequel titled Invincible: Atom Eve, released last July, may have offered a glimpse into some of the possibilities that season 2 might explore. One such possibility is the emergence of a superhero even mightier than Nolan Grayson, aka Omni-Man.

In the special episode, Invincible explored the origin story of Samantha Eve Wilkins, aka Atom Eve. Atom Eve was introduced as a member of the Teen Team and then the new Guardians of the Globe in the first season. She also shared a friendship with the titular character, Mark Grayson, who is the son of Omni-Man. However, her character arc took a deeper turn in this prequel.

Invincible: Atom Eve unravels the tragic past of this character. Atom Eve was the result of a science experiment gone horribly wrong, orchestrated by a scientist named Brandyworth, who sought to enhance her DNA while she was in her mother’s womb. This gave her the ability to envision the molecular structures of everything around her and even manipulate them.

Brandyworth wanted to create a superhero with “almost limitless” powers. But he imposed one constraint placing a mental block in her subconscious to avoid manipulating the molecular structure of living things. However, in the concluding moments of the special episode, Atom Eve breaks free from the mental block, realizing her full power in an emotionally charged moment. With her newfound powers, she might replace Omni-Man, voiced by J.K. Simmons, as the most powerful superhero on the planet.

What Could Unfold In Invincible Season 2?

In season 2 of Invincible, the heroes will brace themselves to defend Earth against an impending attack by the Viltrumites. One central character poised to take the spotlight is Atom Eve, whose character was further developed in the special episode. The character voiced by Gillian Jacobs can manipulate the molecular structure, create energy constructs with her mind, and fight villains with her superpowers in Invincible Season 2.

In the prequel, it is teased that Atom Eve could create and change molecular structures that no one could identify. This could possibly be hinting at the fact that she could wield this power on alien things as well. Atom Eve’s powers appear to surge when fueled by anger and stress, and as the impending attack on Earth hangs over their head, there is plenty of that around.

Atom Eve could possibly erase the memory of Omni-Man as she did her enemies in the prequel. The story might explore this possibility as Atom Eve joins forces with Mark Grayson in a battle against his own father during season 2.
