Leonardo DiCaprio is a big name in the film industry who certainly needs no introduction. Throughout his career, the actor has delivered numerous incredible films and firmly established himself as one of the most reputed actors in Hollywood. His contribution to the film industry has not gone unnoticed as he has earned several renowned titles for his name including an Oscar.

However, his contribution goes beyond acting, as he has also been a vocalist for environment conservation. DiCaprio has often publicly addressed the issues regarding the environment. But he couldn’t adhere to his notion, as he has also been called out by the public for being an eco-hypocrite.

Leonardo DiCaprio has made a major contribution as an environmental activist. The actor is one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood, with a whopping net worth of $300 million. And a major portion of his fortune goes to the funding of climate change projects and biodiversity loss.

The Oscar-winning actor who is also the UN Peace Ambassador, has often optimally utilized his stardom to spread awareness about climate change. He has even addressed issues at the 2016 Academy Award event. While receiving his Oscar Award, the actor reflected on his concern about climate change. He said,

“Climate change is real, it is happening right now, it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.” (via The Things) 

The actor urged people to support the leaders who have contributed to the environment and the ones who have been affected by the “politics of greed.”

Leonardo DiCaprio was called out for being an eco-hypocrite 

Indeed Leonardo DiCaprio‘s contribution to the environment is commendable. However, his ignorant attitude toward the environment has proven his statements wrong and coaxed people to call him an eco-hypocrite. The actor faced severe backlash after his vacation pictures went viral on the internet.

Well, enjoying holidays is no crime, but what concerned the public was his superyacht trips that caused carbon emissions in immense quantities which is enough to harm the environment. His ideology of saving the environment does not align with his lifestyle where he uses carbon-emitting vehicles like Superyacht and private jets.
