They closely focused on the fight choreography with Evans, who was required for most of the sequences due to the limited filming space. However, it didn’t seem a pleasing experience for the Gifted actor. The actor shared behind-the-scenes of the elevator fight sequence before the release of Infinity War.
The videos show him rehearsing his fight scene, first by himself and later with the other actors in the small space. The Russo Brothers have opened up about the significance the scene holds and also claimed that it was a turning point for Steve Rogers, aka Captain America.
The Elevator Fight Sequence Was Very Important to The Russo Brothers
The Russo Brothers have shared how important the elevator fight sequence was to them. It marked the beginning of their MCU journey as it was the “very first scene [they] shot in the MCU.” They also shared that the scene was very important to them for a lot of reasons and claimed that they knew it would make the movie “distinctive.”
They also shared how the scene works as a turning point for the antagonist. Captain America is known for his devotion to Authority and the country he’s served. However, the elevator scene represented “mistrust and subversion” and a change in the superhero forever. “It’s a huge turning point in Captain America’s arc,” the directors of the film shared during an interview with GQ.
