The creators of the animated DC series My Adventures with Superman have mapped out a detailed plan for the show’s future. The show, which premiered in 2023 on Adult Swim, received positive reviews, earning praise for a refreshing take on the superhero and its distinctive animation style.
Following a successful run, the animated series was renewed for another season, which will premiere later this week. However, the showrunners have not stopped on two, as they have gone further, outlining plans for two additional seasons, despite the uncertainty surrounding its continuation.
My Adventures with Superman Creators Have Outlined Additional Seasons
In a recent conversation with Andy Behbakht on The Showrunner Whisperer podcast, the showrunner and producer, Jake Wyatt, shared insight into the plans for the animated DC series My Adventures with Superman.
When asked if they have any plans for potential future seasons of the show, Waytt shared that they have actually outlined the next two seasons following the upcoming release. “Brendan [Clougher] and I have written outlines for three and four,” he said.
The showrunner noted that both seasons have received creative approval. However, he also said he could not share much about whether the studio has plans to renew the animated series for a third and fourth season.
“They have been creatively approved,” he said before adding, “I cannot discuss whether they have been greenlit.” While the prospect remains unclear, the show could potentially return for additional seasons if the second season receives a similar reception as the first.
Starring Jack Quaid as Superman alongside Alice Lee and Ishmel Sahid, My Adventures With Superman follows Clark Kent’s adventures with Louis Lane and his best friend Jimmy Olsen, while embracing his identity as Superman.
My Adventures with Superman Cast Would Love to Return For Another Season
Along with the showrunners, the cast of My Adventures with Superman also shared that they would love to return for another season. Speaking with ComicBook.com, Jack Quaid, who voices the lead character of the show Clark Kent, aka Superman, said, “Absolutely,” when asked about his potential return in the future.
The Boys star further shared that he is grateful to have opportunities to play the iconic character, as he praised the show’s unique take on the classic story and the creative team behind it. “We’re so lucky that we get to play these characters… that have been around for generations,” he said.
And I love how our show puts this unique spin on the whole thing. Everyone knows the myth, but then our show occasionally will turn things on its head. I love this universe that Jake [Wyatt] and Brendan [Clougher] and Josie [Campbell] and everyone have created, and I just want to keep playing around in it forever. Honestly, I could go forever. It’s amazing.
Alice Lee, who voices Louis Lane in the series also shared her enthusiasm to reprise her role, humorously saying that they would be playing these characters until they were “Grandma and grandpas.”
My Adventures With Superman Season 1 is available to stream on Max.
My Adventures With Superman Season 2 is set to release on May 25, 2024, on Adult Swim.
