Fans have waited with bated breath for the Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree and now it is over. The game’s official account took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to announce the reveal date of the trailer which is just hours away at the time of writing. Apparently, many speculations that were initially buried during the delay have been dug open again.
The community was buzzing with the rumors that British-American-Irish voice actress and comedian, Naomi McDonald, would be the voice behind Miquella, a demigod in the game. Miquella is the brother of Malenia, an optional boss who does not require players to defeat her to advance in the story.
Miquella Will Be a Pivotal Character in The Elden Ring DLC
Previously, users were not certain about the actor Naomi McDonald given the details registered her as a “Young Voiced Protagonist, Type B.” Now the technical details appear to mean Miquella according to an Elden Ring data miner called Sekiro Dubi. The user shared a screenshot of credits that clearly shows the actress beside the character’s name in the network test credits.
She is currently based in London, England, and kickstarted her career at the tender age of 9. With over 20 years of experience, she is best known for Go Jetters, Kiss of Death, and Elliot From Earth. Users are already excited about her being the voice behind one of the pivotal characters in the game. One of them dubbed Jetstream520 commented, “If we hear her during the trailer I will be so hype.”
The game also featured voices of actors like William Vanderpuye who voiced Patches, the in-game merchant, and Clare Corbett who was the voice behind another non-playable character Hyetta.
One of The Fan Theories May Be Proven Right
Although the exact date for Shadow of the Erdtree hasn’t been provided yet, the trailer will likely reveal that too. However, a gaming sleuth called billbil-kun highlights that the DLC will be coming in June 2024. Since its announcement, this is the first time players can now speculate the release date with some certainty.
There are a multiple fan theories circling around the new DLC lore with Melina’s journey across the Lands Between being one of the most popular ones. Given the history of FromSoftware’s Dark Souls series, time travel and afterlife exploration could be real possibilities.
As far as details from the upcoming trailer are concerned, it will be a three minute footage. This will be the second update after Colosseum which was a free DLC released in December 2022. With the game’s anniversary around the corner, it is to be hoped the extension will add more magic to Elden Ring‘s narrative.
