Kang the Conqueror has long been a popular expectation among MCU viewers. The time-traveling bad guy has been an adversary of the Fantastic Four and the Avengers for a very long time. Despite being one of Marvel’s most powerful opponents, a few other heroes have been able to outwit him on the comic book pages.

During the Marvel’s Secret Wars event, the Beyonder sent a select group of heroes and villains to an artificial planet (Battleworld) to see who would prevail in a battle between good and evil. Kang the Conqueror joined the gang of bad guys but struggled to fit in with the group and resented Doctor Doom’s leadership.

The Merc-With-A-Mouth was retconned onto Battleworld much later, in Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars. Deadpool skillfully balled the Conquerer and killed him with a single shot to the groin while the villain and Captain America were fighting.

There are six other MCU heroes, who have battled and defeated Kang the Conqueror in comics.

1. Scarlet Witch

Scarlet Witch possesses reality-altering abilities and is a powerful mutant with an acquaintance of the dark arts. Thus, she has incredible skill as a true hero, who can use her manipulations to bring about Kang’s death.

Immortus, one of Kang’s many guises, went to great lengths to acquire the Scarlet Witch’s abilities in Avengers West Coast Vol. 2 #56. With Agatha Harkness’ help, Witch was able to break free from Kang’s hold on her, and together they battled and defeated the Immortus who was controlling reality, resulting in his capture by the time-keepers.

2. Doctor Strange

The Fantastic Four and the Avengers turned out to be Kang the Conqueror’s toughest adversaries. Even so, when the teams first encountered Kang in antiquity, Doctor Strange was secretly at work.

While Kang was the villain and using his ancient Egyptian guise, Rama-Tut, Strange fought alongside both teams to stop him. The moon god Khonshu, the empowerer of Moon Knight, summoned him into the battle. In order to defeat the Kang variant, the Fantastic Four had to be set free by the Sorcerer Supreme (Doctor Strange).

3. The Hulk

The Hulk, Bruce Banner’s uncontrollable alter ego, is as powerful as Kang and can match him in strength.

By erasing Banner’s ancestor’s participation in the Second World War, Kang attempted to eliminate the Hulk in a Back To The Future gambit. But the Hulk intervened, stopping Kang and aiding the Allies in winning the conflict. It is probably best that Kang gave up his plans to change the history of the Avengers.

4. Spider-Man

Spider-Man may not be the first superhero that comes to mind when fighting time-traveling villains, but his agility and wit make him a valuable ally.

In order to defeat the Avengers, Kang the Conqueror has employed a variety of tactics. He has attempted to use other heroes against them as well as attacking them directly with his highly developed armies and weapons. He made a powerful robot version of Spider-Man as part of one of his more bizarre experiments.

Fortunately, the real Spider-Man located the machine and turned it off before it could eliminate them. Since then, they have clashed, and this was one of the few times Kang and Spider-Man squared off and battled against each other.

5. Moon Knight

Due to Kang’s time spent as Rama-Tut in ancient Egypt, the moon god Khonshu held a long-standing grudge against him. Marc Spector inherited this conflict along with a collection of time-traveling totems when he assumed the identity of Moon Knight, also known as the Fist of Khonshu.

Kang made an effort to collect these totems for himself, but Khonshu sent them back in time to his previous avatars. Then, after going back in time to collect the totems, Knight teamed up with his forerunners to defeat Kang by banishing him from the present.

Knight should be commended for this.

6. Cable

Kang was forced to leave ancient Egypt after being defeated by the Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and the moon god Khonshu. A ‘time storm’ struck the villains as they were moving through time. Kang suddenly found himself in the present day where he encountered Dr. Doom, who might have been his ancestor.

After struggling with the storm, Kang’s time machine transported him several years into the future, where he met Cable, who was working with his mutant mentor from the future, Blaquesmith. The mutant time traveler defeated Kang in his Rama-Tut form and teleported him back into the timestream.
