While we never got to see Peter losing Uncle Ben in the MCU, which makes sense as it has been done to death in other iterations, No Way Home did leave fans teary-eyed with Aunt May’s demise. Although heartbreaking for sure, this could be regarded as this version of Peter’s canon event, as her death and NWH‘s ending set the path for a more traditional Spider-Man story moving forward.

However, per new reports, it seems this wasn’t the last of Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May in the MCU, as Spider-Man 4 is reportedly planning to bring her back in some form.

While there was a gap of two years between each Spider-Man feature in the Homecoming trilogy, a release date for the next one is yet to be revealed. Although it has been confirmed that Spider-Man 4 is in development, there has been little to no update about its plot.

However, per scooper, @MyTimeToShineH, the next entry in the series will reportedly bring back Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May.

Considering how emotionally heavy her death was in Spider-Man: No Way Home, bringing her back could be a divisive decision, as it would diminish the impact of the last film. But fans could see her return in some flashback sequence in the next installment, similar to what Insomniac did with the character in Spider-Man 2.

But it’s important to keep in mind that nothing is set in stone, and we’ll have to wait until something official comes from Marvel and Sony itself.

Tom Holland Delivers a Brief Update on Spider-Man 4

It’s reasonable to see why there has been a major break after Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was the biggest Spider-Man film of all time by a landslide due to obvious reasons. Speaking of the next installment, Tom Holland shared they have a legacy to protect, stressing that they won’t get the ball rolling on it until cracking the perfect story for the next chapter in the character’s journey.

We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing

Although it might be a while before something official comes from the House of the Mouse and Sony about the character, as of now, fans can do nothing but speculate for the time being.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to stream on Disney Plus.
