Marvel Studios has been meticulously expanding the MCU for decades now, and Avengers: Secret Wars is the next big project in the pipeline. Following the conclusion of the Infinity Stones saga in Avengers: Endgame, the studio has also continued to further the stories through a number of TV shows like Loki and Wanda Vision.
One of the biggest storylines that the MCU has been focusing on in this phase is the multiverse. The saga itself is central to this phase, and all the stories have been carefully building up to it for years.
Secret Wars is on its way, and it is already being hailed as the biggest film of this decade. While the film itself might not be out for a few more years, one show might have already spoiled the ending of it. At least a new theory suggests so.
How does Loki set up the Avengers: Secret Wars?
Loki, the God of Mischief, was one of the most beloved characters in the MCU. Therefore, his death in Avengers: Infinity War at the hands of Thanos shocked everyone.
Thor’s mischievous brother, played by Tom Hiddleston, is still alive, though, in a way, and his fate is explored in the television series Loki. He surprisingly finds himself in the office of the Time Variance Authority, the TVA, which plays an important role in maintaining balance in the world. It is an organization that is tasked with the job of protecting the sacred timeline and cracking down on rogues who would end up creating alternate timelines.
The God of Mischief discovers the existence of variants, including several of his own. However, the one that affects the course of the show and possibly the wider universe is Sylvie Laufeydottir.
In the season finale of the show, the two characters come across Nathaniel Richards, a scientist from the 31st century. A new theory suggests that Richard’s interactions with the two variants might have set up and, most importantly, spoiled the ending of a film that may not see the light of day anytime soon.
Did the show spoil the ending of Avengers: Secret Wars?
The variant of Richards that was seen on the show was yet to become He Who Remains. A new theory suggests that he will play an even bigger role, and the show sets it up quite nicely.
According to this theory, the scientist will put together a team of heroes in Avengers: Secret Wars. Richards will go on to take on the title of He Who Remains and will then set up the TVA to protect the sacred timeline, as seen on the show.
So how does it spoil the ending, you might ask? Richards tells the story of an all-out multiversal war to Loki and Sylvie, but he was describing the war that had already happened in the past. This means that he described the events of Avengers: Secret Wars already.
If this is indeed the path the film will take, it means that the fans have been privy to the ending all this time. It also adds another layer to the various time-travel theories that have been doing the rounds. This is just a theory at this point, and only the film will be able to confirm if it is true or just wild speculation.
