While one would expect that Eiichiro Oda has revealed almost every Will of D member, the ending of the Egghead Island arc proves otherwise. The arc might be hiding another Will of D member, and there is a chance that this soon-to-be-revealed member will join the Straw Hat Pirates in their next adventure to Elbaf.

This character is none other than Jewelry Bonney, the daughter of Bartholomew Kuma and a major character in the Egghead arc. While it has not been confirmed whether or not Bonney has the Will of D, a recent experiment done by Saint Jaygarcia Saturn proves that she indeed does.

Jewelry Bonney Carries the Will of D

There is a theory that has been making the rounds on the internet that seemingly explains what the will of D means. According to this theory, the people who carry the initial D in their name supposedly have control over their fate in terms of death. They can only die when they willingly accept their death or sacrifice themselves for someone else.

Almost every Will of D member has survived near-death experiences and lived to tell the tale, except for Ace and his father, Gol D. Roger. While Roger only died when he chose to give himself up, Ace’s death was the result of the sacrifice he made for his brother Luffy. Similar instances have happened with Bonney in One Piece.

Just like Luffy and the other Will of D members, Bonney has escaped multiple death experiences since her birth. Even after being hunted by a Gorosei and the entire World Government, she goes headstrong against her opponents and refuses to give up no matter what. In fact, it was Saturn who pointed all of this out and revealed what the Will of D could mean in the One Piece narrative.

Since the beginning of the series, whoever has met Luffy has developed a sense of trust and understanding towards the protagonist. He has a gift for making other characters follow him, and he has unintentionally done a similar thing with Bonney. He not only saved her, but her father as well, and he lit the fire of confidence that helped Bonney land a punch on Saturn.

And now, as the Egghead narrative moves towards its conclusion, Bonney and Kuma are both under the protection of Luffy, his crew, and the Giants. They are expected to travel to Elbaf with them and find out more truths about the One Piece world. While Kuma’s health might not allow him to travel much further, Bonney might join the Straw Hat Crew.

After watching the past of her father, she has developed hatred towards the Celestial Dragons and the World Government, who have done nothing but use Kuma. She is highly motivated to take revenge against them, and there is no better person to help her than Luffy.
