The devil fruits in One Piece is one of the strongest forms of power shown in the series. They are divided into three categories: Paramecia, Zoan, and Logia. Over the course of the series, fans have seen many devil fruits that and their powers have the ability to literally shake the world. But they are not the only source of strength.

Another form of power that is quite popular in the One Piece world is Haki. Haki is a mysterious power that is derived from ambition and one’s spiritual energy. Only a few people in the series are said to possess the power of Haki. While some characters rely on the powers of Haki, some rely on the power of devil fruits. And then there are those, who possess both.

However, during the Wano arc, a revelation by Kaido has led fans to believe that maybe Haki is a stronger power source than devil fruits. Even the Red-Haired Pirates are seen not having any devil fruits and still being stronger than almost every pirate crew. Now a theory has come to light that the devil fruits have another weakness which is why Shanks and his crew refuse to use the power of devil fruits.

Kaido’s Prediction About Devil Fruits And Haki

In episode 1074, Kaido stated that Haki was still the superior power while fighting Luffy’s awakened devil fruit powers, Gear 5. He said this while recalling about some of the most powerful individuals who lacked devil fruit abilities, such as Gol. D Roger and Kozuki Oden.

Even though Kaido is said to possess one of the strongest devil fruits, the fact that he still believes Haki is superior indicates that he is aware of Haki’s potential. There’s a lot of truth to his statement, despite the fact that Luffy’s Devil Fruit awakening ultimately defeated him.

Many of the major characters who have held significant importance to the story have relied on the power of Haki, rather than using a devil fruit. The biggest example of this is Shanks and his Red-Haired Pirates. They are currently the strongest Yonko crew and probably the closest to finding the One Piece treasure and none of them possess any kind of devil fruit power.

Theory Explains The Reason Why the Red-Haired Pirates Don’t Have Devil Fruits

According to a wild theory by u/21DQUID on Reddit, the devil fruit has one other weakness besides losing the ability to swim. This weakness is only known by Gol D. Roger and his crew because they were the only ones who were able to reach the One Piece treasure and know the truth about the Void Century.

The theory claims that Roger knew about the Void century and this helped him understand the strength and weakness of the devil fruits, thus he and his crew(except Buggy) chose not to eat devil fruits and rely on its power. This secret is also known to Shanks which is why he has not eaten a devil fruit till now, even after having the Nika fruit in his possession.

This theory makes Kaido’s prediction more ominous and holds a lot of merit in the story. While the end of One Piece is coming close, all of the secrets and mysteries that have been placed within the story will be revealed very soon.
