One Piece is one such story that has made waves in the live-action world. Season 1 of the Live-Action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s masterwork was incredibly successful and fans are now eagerly waiting for the next season.

Just like the original anime and manga, the One Piece live-action follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, who aspires to be the King of the Pirates and to achieve that is assembling a crew. With some brief modifications from the original source, Netflix was able to produce the first successful live-action series.

As fans now wait for the second season which was announced just after the success of the first season, Mackenyu, the actor who portrays the role of Roronoa Zoro, the Swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, has dropped a little update for the upcoming season 2 of the live-action series.

Mackenyu Drops Hints About One Piece Live-Action Season 2

Mackenyu, who plays Roronoa Zoro, in Netflix’s One Piece is one of the most loved actors from the series, just like his character. His portrayal of the serious, brave, and impatient swordsman of the Straw Hat crew was so spot-on that he developed a huge fan following after the premiere of the live-action series.

Mackenyu revealed during the Bandai Card Games Fest final in Chiba, Japan, that the second season is due to begin production shortly. When asked if he’ll be taking part in any tournaments, he told announcers “I won’t be in this country anymore, I will be in another One Piece.” This might be a huge hint about the series starting filming soon.

Although, he later clarified that he has not received any update on the period when the shooting for the second season of One Piece live-action will begin, it did provide a hint about him being busy for almost a year for the shooting which will likely begin this year.

What to Expect from One Piece Live-Action Season 2?

Looking at the storyline the One Piece live-action followed in the first season, it is safe to say that the second season will mark the beginning of the Alabasta Saga which has five arcs: Reverse Mountain Arc, Whisky Peak Arc, Little Garden Arc, Drum Island Arc, and finally the Alabasta Arc. The second season will also witness the crew entering the infamous Grand Line.

Alabasta Saga holds great importance in the story of One Piece as it not only introduced two new members of the Straw Hat crew, it also introduced some of the major villains and characters in the series like Crocodile, Luffy’s father Monkey D. Dragon, and Neftari Vivi, the Princess of Alabasta.

Also, it will feature Luffy’s first major defeat in the series and their encounter with the first poneglyph. Also, Luffy will meet his brother Portgas D. Ace who is one of the most loved characters in the series. Thus, the second season will be full of surprises, and looking at Netflix’s timeline, One Piece Live-Action season 2 might be released by 2025.
