Since the time skip, Roronoa Zoro, the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates has grown significantly strong and has proved it multiple times in One Piece. He has defeated some of the strongest characters in the series and has earned the second-highest bounty in the crew which has now achieved Yonko status.
According to the manga’s storyline, Zoro recently defeated Rob Lucci, considered one of the strongest World Government officials in One Piece. And now fans hope to see him fight against Sir Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, one of the Five Elders who is also a swordsman and has ties with the Wano country, just like Zoro.
However, V. Nusjuro might not be the toughest opponent Zoro might face. There is one other antagonist in the story who because of his powers might force Zoro to take Sanji’s help in defeating him. This character is none other than Shiryu, one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates. His Devil Fruit power might become a big problem for Zoro.
Shiryu’s Devil Fruit Power Might Be A Big Problem for Zoro
During the Impel Down arc, Shiryu joined the Blackbeard Pirates and became one of the captains of their ship. He is the swordsman of the Blackbeard Pirates and also one of the best swordsmen in the series. During the Paramount War arc, Blackbeard Pirates kidnapped Absalom(Gecko Moria’s ally) and killed him to take his Devil Fruit.
This Devil Fruit was the Clear-Clear fruit, which was then consumed by Shiryu. With the help of the fruit, he becomes invisible and gains the ability to make anything he is holding invisible as well. Using this power, he can sneak behind his adversaries without being noticed, allowing him to attack them.
During the Blackbeard Pirate’s battle against Monkey D. Garp, Shiryu used the power of Clear-Clear fruit to launch a sneak attack on Garp which resulted in the ultimate defeat of Luffy’s grandfather. Therefore, this ability can become a big problem for Roronoa Zoro when the Straw Hat Pirates fight the Blackbeard Pirates.
Zoro Might Need Sanji’s Help Because He has Better Observation Haki
Zoro is one of the only characters in the series who have all three types of Haki: Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki. However, he has not yet awoken his Future Sight, which is a more evolved version of Observation Haki, and also one of the strongest Haki techniques ever used in the One Piece universe.
When Zoro and Shiryu fight, Zoro may be able to protect himself against Shiryu’s swordsmanship, but he may be unable to counteract the stealth power of his Devil Fruits. Observation Haki is the only method by which one can become aware of his presence. While Zoro is not able to use it, Sanji has been far more capable of using Observation Haki.
Therefore, there is a chance that Zoro might need Sanji’s help to detect Shiryu’s presence during the battle and ultimately defeat him. However, taking Zoro’s pride into consideration, he would rather find an alternative way to defeat the villain than take the help of his rival in One Piece.
