In episode 1109 of One Piece, Luffy and Lucci pair up against S-Bear while Zoro and Kaku hold off S-Hawk. The pirates and Cipher Pol agents had to reluctantly work together to resist the Seraphims, and the animation by Vincent Chansard has brought the scene to life. Chansard is an animator and storyboard artist who has worked on several famous series like Back Clover, Boruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho III, One Piece and more.

In an X thread, the animator explained the thought process that went into creating episode 1109. According to the animator, the limit to this episode that that Zoro could not fight back.

This very real fear that no matter how strong zorro is, at any moment a single mistake can be dangerous, despite the strength gap, it creates tension in the fight.

There was also a lot of focus on the eyes of the characters, and it was a way to perceive the fight. Zoro needed to be attentive and dodge everything while protecting Kaku. Chansard admitted that while he was adding the fight choreography, he was given a lot of freedom.

Next, the animator directly talks about Zorro, who has had years of training but having to defend Kaku slowed down his capabilities. He was also going against S-Hawk who is a newborn almost, which made him create a distance between them.
