Netflix’s One Piece Live Action had to face many challenges before it finally won over the hearts of the fans. The news of one of the Big Three of anime getting a live adaptation sends shivers down the spines of the entire One Piece fandom. They were afraid that it might add to Netflix’s list of failed live adaptation ventures, especially after the disastrous live adaptation of Cowboy Bebop.

But once it got released, it immediately won over the hearts of the fans. Each of the cast members fulfilled their roles and proved why Eiichiro Oda handpicked them. Even though most of the challenges were overcome, the Roronoa Zoro actor still struggled with a challenge that no one expected him to face. It was an even greater challenge than training with the three swords.

Mackenyu Arata, popularly known as Mackenyu, is a Japanese actor who has predominantly appeared in Hollywood and Japanese movies. He earned worldwide fame after being cast as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s One Piece Live Action. Even though he was familiar with working with Netflix and had experience working in a live adaptation, Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus brought new challenges for him.

Mackenyu mentioned in an interview that training with three swords was one of the toughest training he had ever done. He was familiar with two swords, but three proved utterly difficult.  But the fans have found that there is one more task that is more challenging to him than training with multiple swords. Even though he is Japanese, interviewers always seem to ask him about anime.

The Zoro actor has to remind all the people that he is Japanese and has lived his life with anime. So, there are innumerable anime that he has seen. Some people asked him whether he previously knew about One Piece. Mackenyu has the same answer for everyone as people often seem to forget his origin. Making people remember that he is Japanese is the biggest challenge he has faced as a member of One Piece Live Action.

One Piece Live Action Casted The Perfect Actor To Play Roronoa Zoro

Mackenyu getting cast as Roronoa Zoro in Netflix’s One Piece Live Action is one of the best choices made by the producers. He worked hard to perfect the role. Training his mouth to hold a sword is not an easy task. Being familiar with the One Piece anime had made it easier for him to know about Zoro. He showcased his sword skills by blocking Captain Axe-Hand Morgan’s attacks and impressed the fans.

Mackenyu maintained seriousness and sometimes had a smile at the corner of his lips, just like Roronoa Zoro from One Piece anime. Physically and emotionally, he had done a great job, and the fans are eager to watch him again in One Piece Live Action season 2. Hopefully, by that time he will have overcome the monstrous challenge that he still faces after having such an established career in Hollywood, as well as in Japan.
