When we talk about one of the most significant things about Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball franchise, Super Saiyan Jin or Super Saiyan is the first thing that comes to our mind. It was thrilling to witness Goku transform into the legendary transformation for the very first time on Planet Namek when he battled Frieza to decide the faith of the dictator. From there, Toriyama-Sensei decided to start a trend by featuring SSJ 2, SSJ3, SSJ4, SSJ Blue, and SSJ God.
There are dozens of transformations featured in different series, including Goku’s mastered Ultra Instinct and Vegeta’s Ultra Ego transformations. However, there is one Super Saiyan transformation that can never be achieved by Kakarot and The Prince of All Saiyans. This is not a hoax as even training for millions of years in the hyperbolic time chamber with Whis or Grand Priest can’t help them achieve it.
Super Saiyan Rosé, Dragon Ball’s Rarest Transformation Can Never Be Achieved By Goku and Vegeta
When Goku Black first transformed into Super Saiyan Rosé fans were captivated as the transformation was something that stood out in the franchise for its minimal aesthetics, which were undeniably striking. The rose-haired hair shrouded with a dark aura, definitely grabbed the attention as it featured a spine-tingling narrative twist.
Initially, it featured as a great way of portraying Goku Black, the evil counterpart of Goku, which blurred the lines between hero and villain. As the Future Trunks Arc progressed, fans learned that Super Saiyan Rosé is quite different from Super Saiyan transformations featured earlier in the series.
This is because Zamasu switched his body with Goku’s with the help of the Super Dragon Balls. The Rosé transformation was different because he was training to become a Supreme Kai in his universe, which is a type of God.
Hence, Goku Black transforming into an SSJ would not lead to an ordinary SSJ or SSJ Blue transformation, as he would combine his divine energy would lead to a different type of Super Saiyan which he calls “Rosé,” quite elegant if you ask me.
Since no other gods in any of the universes are Saiyans, this solidifies Rosé as the rarest form of transformation, which could never be achieved by Goku and Vegeta despite training for a million years in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Nevertheless, Akira Toriyama was quite hesitant to feature the iconic transformation for the first time in episode 95 of the Namek Saga.
Akira Toriyama Initially Hesitated To Feature The SSJ Transformation to Goku
Dragon Ball Z’s episode 95 has revolutionized anime forever, as it featured Goku’s iconic SSJ transformation for the very first time. The same legendary transformation that opened the door to this iconic Rosé transformation of Goku Black.
In this episode, Kakarot was pushed to his edge as Frieza killed Vegeta and Krillin in front of Kakarot. Every old-school Dragon Ball Z fan remembers this iconic scene, even after so many years.
However, Toriyama-Sensei was quite hesitant to feature his idea in the series. During an old interview via Kanzenshuu, Akira Toriyama opened up about how he had not planned the iconic transformation at all.
He said,
“I actually hadn’t planned Goku’s Super Saiyan transformation at all. Then, when I came up with the idea of the Super Saiyan in order to show that Goku had gained a massive power-up all at once, I thought, “There’s no choice but to change his form, too.”
This explains Kakarot’s physical transformation, golden aura, and blonde hair. Moreover, his SSJ transformation overpowered Frieza’s power level because, at the end of their battle, the tyrant was begging for his life.
Dragon Ball Super can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
