While the series has almost everything, be it great animation, a brilliant storyline, or strong characters, the major credit for the success of Solo Leveling goes to its protagonist Sung Jinwoo. The character has fulfilled the fan’s expectations as a protagonist and is a new addition to the list of amazing main characters in such a short time.

Another character who shares a similarity with Sung Jinwoo is Goku, the protagonist of one of the biggest anime and manga series in the world, Dragon Ball. Although both of these characters are quite strong, Sung Jinwoo has it far more difficult than the Dragon Ball hero. This challenge makes him somewhat of a better protagonist than Goku.

Similarities Between Goku and Sung Jinwoo

Sung Jinwoo from Solo Leveling has gained strength more quickly than practically any other character the anime world has ever seen. This is similar to Goku in several aspects. Goku is a martial arts genius in Dragon Ball, and as he battles more difficult opponents, his superhuman power only gets stronger.

Both characters possess the ability to evolve at frightening speeds, making them deserving of the label of protagonist in their respective series. Although Jinwoo lacks the time to develop the same level of physical prowess as Goku, he does possess a unique power as the Shadow Monarch that may help him approach the level of the Super Saiyan protagonist.

Another resemblance between Goku and Jinwoo is that they both use plot armor. They advance in level continuously depending on who they face. But, Jinwoo appears to face more of a hurdle than Goku did, thus making him a better main character than Goku.

Sung Jinwoo Might Be a Better Protagonist Than Goku

Sung Jinwoo can improve his stats and level up by utilizing the system because of his Second Awakening. This requires defeating tough opponents and performing tasks, some of which are everyday tasks for him. Yet, they aren’t just optional because there are consequences for not finishing some of the duties each day.

He must therefore do these activities each day or risk receiving a punishment that is considerably more difficult, which makes his life even more challenging. This is the reason he constantly has self-doubt and still needs to work hard for every win. Although other anime feature protagonists that are overpowered, Solo Leveling makes it challenging for Sung Jinwoo to gain additional strength thus making it more interesting for the fans.

Therefore, it can be stated that although Sung Jinwoo has plot armor to get him out of extremely difficult situations like Goku, Goku does not usually face consequences because of it. Jinwoo literally gets punished by the same element that is granting him an unparalleled amount of abilities and powers.
