Considering his name and reputation in the industry, many actors wish to star alongside the action star Tom Cruise. Actress Rosamund Pike got this opportunity in the 2012 film Jack Reacher. Based on Lee Child’s 2005 novel One Shot, the film follows a former Military Police officer who is called back to investigate a case accusing a former sniper of killing five people.
Tom Cruise took the lead role in the film, and Pike portrayed Helen Rodin, James Barr’s defense attorney. Talking about her experience of working with the Mission Impossible star, she shared that she found it hard to act when Cruise had his shirt off.

Rosamund Pike joined the cast of the 2012 action thriller Jack Reacher, and she was excited to work alongside Tom Cruise and get to know one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. Pike shared that she was thrilled to work with him, and it was like a dream come true for her.
During an interview with MTV News, she said, “I am working with [him] in such a close way that I actually got to know the man.” The Gone Girl star said that she feels “privileged” to have such an opportunity and said that she is glad that she has a friend like the Top Gun star.
While several actors have shared that they find it hard to follow up with his idea of perfection, Pike was distracted by something else. The Oscar nominee shared that she found it hard to act in front of a shirtless Tom Cruise.
Pike shared that once she told the director of the film Christopher McQuarrie, why he would ask her to act while Cruise was standing just “three feet away shirtless.” She told him, “What are you trying to do to me here?” However, she also claimed that she was surprised by the Vanilla Sky actor’s ability to relax his co-stars.

During her interview, she also shared that Rosamund Pike was surprised by how Tom Cruise’s passion while working with him. Describing his passion and enthusiasm toward his work, the actress said that he’s like a “17-year-old kid in some ways, in the good ways, only the good ways!”
She also shared that the Knight and Day star is a great “comedic actor” and puts his co-stars at ease by engaging with them. “He totally puts you at ease. He is willing to engage with who you are. He’s interested in you as a person,” Pike shared. The Hostiles actress shared that he is so powerful while working that it’s hard to match his energy. Pike also stated that she would love to work with him again.
