The anime series is based on the same-titled Japanese manga series authored by Aka Akasaka. It follows a doctor and his recently deceased patient who were resurrected as twins to a famous Japanese pop idol, navigating the highs and lows of the country’s entertainment business as they grow up together. 

Oshi no Ko is presently in the process of returning for Season 2, and the anime has officially set a release window with a new teaser trailer and poster. However, fans have fallen into a conflicting dilemma because of a controversial turn in the Oshi no Ko manga series.

Oshi No Ko’s Second Season Announced

The highly awaited Season 2 will debut in July 2024, as revealed by the Oshi no Ko stage event at Anime Japan 2024, which also unveiled a new teaser image and teaser trailer! To honor the first anniversary of the Oshi no Ko anime, more details about the second season will be revealed on April 12. 

Fans can expect the new anime to release its debut promotional video or teaser trailer on the same day. The anime also introduced new voice cast members and revealed costume designs for the characters’ Tokyo Blade Stage Play counterparts. Koki Uchiyama and Yusuke Kobayashi will be joining the cast in the roles of Sakuya Kamoshida and Taiki Himekawa, respectively.

Even though a firm launch date has not yet been announced, Oshi no Ko is commemorating the release of the second season by giving fans their first glimpse at the larger cast of characters they will be seeing in upcoming episodes. While anime fans are excited about the upcoming season of Oshi no Ko, manga fans are not too happy about it.

Manga Fans Are in a Dilemma Over Oshi no Ko’s Second Season

Oshi no Ko manga fans have been in a dilemma since the release of Chapter 143 of the series and split the fan base, especially because of a scene that included the series’ twin protagonists, Aqua and Ruby, that caused controversy.

Oshi no Ko Chapter 143’s developments took an unexpected turn that many fans didn’t like. The chapter saw Ruby kissing Aqua, after the two protagonists, claimed to be their former selves, Sarina Tendouji and Gorou Amamiya. Even though the characters’ personalities had changed upon their rebirth, the fact that they had spent eighteen years thinking of themselves as siblings continued to exist. 

Fans were already divided on whether Aqua and Ruby would have any further love developments. And after chapter 143 was released, several readers expressed their severe disgust, to the point that they thought this chapter was the worst description of the entire series to read.
