It has been revealed by Blizzard, the studio responsible for the game how they have been keeping a close watch on those who manage to practically cheat in the game for an upper hand over other players, particularly those who are pulling off a rather simple trick to get their way around in the game.

As revealed in a recent blog post by the studio, Blizzard has been keeping a watch over those console players who have chosen to gain an upper hand by playing with a keyboard and mouse instead of a controller. For better context, some Overwatch players have been using readily available devices in the market that allow input from peripherals other than a controller to pass off as one to the console.
To sum it up, players who are using a mouse to aim in-game are getting the benefits of better control over their movement when compared to a joystick along with the aim-assist implemented in place to make a level ground for controller players.
The studio revealed how they have already implemented a detection system in place to make note of those players who have been using this trick to have leverage over other controller players in-game. They have also revealed what actions will be taken against these players if they decide to keep up with it, and it might just be enough to redeem themselves after ruining a competitive player’s career for using 2 measly words.
What Actions Will Be Taken Against Players Gaining Unfair Advantage In Overwatch
The blog stated how starting with Season 11, common players who are making use of this setup will be given a restriction from the competitive queue for a week if they are detected. They will, fortunately, be given access to the quick play mode in this period and are expected to switch over to the conventional method of playing the game again.
However, if they continue to keep up with the same behavior then not only the competitive queue will be restricted for the whole season, but they will be queued up in quick play with those players with a similar setup. It is important to know how the aim-assist feature will be stripped away for these players.
Lastly, the studio stated that players of High Elo who have been using this technique are expected to cease using the use of these unapproved peripherals starting right now. For the coming few weeks, those who have been severely abusing this system will be facing permanent account bans, as the activity goes against Blizzard’s In-Game code of conduct.
