After a few years, Pokemon lookalike Palworld has finally been released, and it has already begun, beating out games like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and many others for the biggest launches in Steam’s history

This has been determined by the concurrent player count on SteamDB, which currently has Palworld set at over 1,582,482 players who were logged on at one time. This has beaten out plenty of other games that were released on Steam and have taken months to reach similar heights, whereas Palworld has managed this incredible feat in less than a few days.

How Has Palworld Managed to Beat Records Held by Games Like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and More?

Over the years, there have been plenty of games that have been released onto Steam and have been incredibly popular, whether that be the ever-popular CS:GO franchise, Elden Ring, or even Hogwarts Legacy.

Throughout the many years, there have been plenty of different games that have taken the top spot in Steam’s biggest launch category, but somehow Palworld has managed to become one of the top three in less than a week after its initial release.

Currently, Palworld is set at the third highest concurrent player peak, just behind CS:GO 2, which is currently sitting at 1.8 million, and the game that is currently holding first is PUBG: Battlegrounds at 3.2 million concurrent player peak.

This is an incredible achievement, as Palworld spent a long time in development, with many gamers wondering if it would ever be released. With its release, gamers flocked to the game to enjoy the Pokemon-inspired survival game, and gamers are over the moon.

Even though it is heavily inspired by the Pokemon franchise, it has very little in common, as it may use your pals in battle, but more in the sense of a rocket launcher or an egg-shooting grenade launcher, which for obvious reasons will have enticed many gamers into loading up the game.

As well as all these incredible numbers, it’s now reported that the game has sold SIX MILLION copies in four days, which is impressive enough, but even more so when it also dropped on Xbox Game Pass the same day.

Why Is This Such an Amazing Achievement for Palworld?

In the past, there has only been a select group of games that have managed to reach this achievement that Palworld has managed to achieve. However, many games that are released on Steam would require weeks or months to reach the number of concurrent players that Palworld has managed to reach in just a few days.

This is also incredibly impressive because this doesn’t tend to happen very often. Usually, there will only be about two games maximum that reach such a high concurrent player peak within a year, depending on what game it is and whether or not it is exclusive or not.

At the moment, this concurrent player count is only regarding Steam and doesn’t include the player count for Xbox or any other site that players can use to access this game. Since Palworlds was released on Xbox Game Pass, there are most likely thousands to millions more players who are adventuring through Palworld who aren’t even accounted for.

If we took into consideration the number of players that would be logging onto the game on other platforms, the concurrent player count would be much higher, but for now, we are just looking at Steam.

To add to the impressive response that Palworld has received from the gaming community, there has also been a majorly positive response to the game, as gamers have been leaving over 90% positive reviews of the game, and this is very rare for a game these days as most games will either be review bombed or fail due to bad publicity.

What do you think about Palworld being one of the most popular games on Steam at the moment? Are you going to give Palworld a try while it is still fresh and new? Do you think Palworld will keep its popularity or will it drop rapidly? Let us know in the comments what you think!
