Marvel President Kevin Feige is in a huge predicament after the foundations of the MCU have been crumbling harder than the sacred timeline. With the failure of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania as well as the recent The Marvels, the MCU is in dire need of a creative overhaul. Jonathan Majors’ recent conviction has also blown their plans out of proportion.
Now, popular scooper on X, Cryptic HD Quality has leaked the news that Feige and the gang at Marvel are planning to center their plans on the Mutants and are developing multiple films based on the characters. The mutants’ existence has already been confirmed in the series Ms Marvel and recently in Brie Larson’s The Marvels. The news, however, has made fans doubtful about the MCU’s creativity again.
Why Is Marvel Undergoing A Creative Overhaul?
The MCU had its biggest release in terms of scale and commercial success when it released the 2019 massive team-up film Avengers: Endgame. The film was for a brief period the highest-grossing film of all time before being overtaken again by James Cameron’s Avatar. The film also marked the end of the ‘Infinity Saga’ and the next phase would begin the ‘Multiverse Saga’.
Kevin Feige’s Multiverse Saga has been a hit and miss, especially in the past few films and Disney Plus series that the MCU has been putting out. While legacy titles such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 did well with critics and the box office, other entries such as Secret Invasion and Brie Larson starrer The Marvels have received terrible scores.
With every new entry, MCU fans have been hoping for a redemption arc and the films and series were finally leading up to Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars before the apparent main antagonist Jonathan Majors was arrested on assault and harassment charges. He was recently convicted for the charges and was dropped by Marvel.
As a backup plan, Kevin Feige and the team at Marvel were reportedly considering bringing back the OG Avengers and focusing on them. Variety reported that the creative team went on a retreat a few weeks ago to plan the future course of films and series, with ideas of an Avengers return including Robert Downey Jr. brought up. However, there has been no confirmation of that.
Kevin Feige Is Reportedly Developing Mutant-Based Films For The MCU
While there have been X-Men films as part of a franchise by Fox Studios, the MCU has only recently acknowledged the presence of mutants in the universe. The characters were finally included in the MCU docket after Disney, Marvel’s parent company, acquired Fox Studios, resulting in the X-Men returning to their rightful home.
The existence of the mutants was made more apparent in the Disney Plus series Ms Marvel where the titular Kamala Khan was said to be a mutant while Hank McCoy a.k.a. Beast makes an appearance in the Brie Larson starrer The Marvels. MCU is all set to have its first X-Men film next year with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3.
In light of these developments, the X user Cryptic HD Quality recently leaked the news that Kevin Feige was developing more titles based on the mutants and that the superheroes would be taking center stage over the Avengers. With rumors surrounding that the X-Men would be formally introduced in Avengers 5 (formerly Kang Dynasty), this would make them the main protagonists of the next saga of the MCU.
Fans, however, are apprehensive about Kevin Feige’s new plans and are afraid that the Avengers will be forgotten in favor of the X-Men. Fans are also disappointed that bringing them to the mainstream would also make them out to be more appealing to the current political scenario.

While Kevin Feige was also setting up a Young Avengers team with the likes of Kate Bishop, Cassie Lang, and Kamala Khan among others, it seems like that plan too has been on the backburner in favor of the X-Men.
