New Details Have Been Revealed About Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty

The Gamescom 2023 footage for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty gave fans an extensive look at the upcoming DLC’s revamped gameplay, while also showcasing new abilities, content, and features that it will be included. Players will be able to carry these elements over to the game’s upcoming 2.0 update, which will launch with the expansion pack. As we already know, the DLC plot will revolve around espionage, with the President of the New United States of America right in the middle of it. Players will also encounter a dangerous gang in the streets of a treacherous new sub-district called Dogtown.

According to a post on Twitter/X by Okami Games, the storyline “is NOT standalone” and takes place in the middle of the main plot, with players having the option of skipping “ahead to the DLC” if they want. Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty will also throw in new characters, such as Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba, as players try to complete various dynamic missions and gigs. It’s safe to say the expansion contains major updates to the core systems of the base game, which basically turns it into a much better experience for just $29.99.

The Phantom Liberty DLC will also introduce highly requested vehicular combat to the world of Cyberpunk 2077. This was a feature that was expected in the base game, but never included in the final version, causing a lot of players to be disappointed. Players will apparently be able to “slice enemy tires with a katana” during intense vehicular encounters, along with having the option of choosing from a variety of vehicles, including fast sports cars and heavily armored mounted vehicles that come with “rockets, machine guns, and more.”

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Will Feature Intense Car Chases and New Skills

The gameplay designer for Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty, Yulia Primak, explained how “car chases” will be a huge part of the whole experience, which will also feature “a revamped police system.” Considering how gamers collectively agreed that the base game’s police AI was extremely underwhelming, this is reason enough for fans to be excited for the DLC. The Gamescom 2023 footage showed an intense police chase, with V trying to escape the authorities, similar to the Wanted system in Grand Theft Auto, which means if you commit too many crimes, the police will aggressively hunt you down.

During these chases in Phantom Liberty, players will have to use everything at their disposal to escape, including firing rockets at the police and being smart with their driving skills if cornered. You can check out the new footage here and look at the list of the new features coming in the DLC here, which also include a “revamped” skill tree.

Does this make you excited for the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 expansion? Will you be playing it when the DLC comes out? Leave a comment and let us know!
