All the recent talk in the gaming world has been about Bethesda’s upcoming behemoth Starfield, there’s also the matter of Cyberpunk 2077 and its DLC Phantom Liberty. Cyberpunk 2077 was, ahead of its release back in 2020, one of the most anticipated games of the modern era. After all, developer CD Projekt Red had more than proven their chops with their Witcher games, particularly The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Players had seen several extended gameplay videos and with Hollywood stars like Keanu Reeves on board, it felt like nothing could go wrong.
However, go wrong it did. Everything came tumbling down at release, with there being a plethora of bugs and glitches across platforms, particularly on last gen consoles. There were several performance problems as well which actually led to Sony removing the game from the PlayStation Store for several months while CD Projekt Red tried to fix Cyberpunk 2077. But since then, they’ve worked hard and have rectified many of the issues plaguing the game, though that isn’t enough for some gamers.
What did fans have to say about the Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty DLC?
The look that fans got at Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty received a mixed response overall, with several fans unwilling to give the game a second chance. On IGN’s Instagram comment section of the DLC’s video, one user said “Please just let this game die” while another said “Ain’t nobody falling for the same scam twice”.
It isn’t all doom and gloom, though. Other users, in the same comment section, defended the game and said that they were looking forward to the new DLC, having seemingly forgiven Cyberpunk 2077’s missteps at launch. One user said “i played on PS5 from the start throughout everything and its still one of the best experiences i have had gaming. excited to see what is next”. Another user said “We’ll never fade away”.

What do we know about Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty?
Cyberpunk 2077 has only one planned expansion and that is Phantom Liberty, which is described as a spy – thriller where the playable character, V, explores a whole new area of Night City, the setting of the game. It also promises new skills, new technology and new weaponry amidst a backdrop of espionage, intrigue and conspiracies.
With the release of the Phantom Liberty expansion also comes an update, update 2.0. At Gamescom on August 22nd, Yuliia Pryimak (a gameplay designer for the game) revealed that a lot of new features are coming to the base game on some platforms as well. These include the current gen PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and of course the PC. Thought it couldn’t be confirmed which features are locked behind Phantom Liberty’s paywall, some of the new features are dozens of new story quests and gigs, vehicular combat, a redone combat AI, and a rebuilt police system, to name but a few.
Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty launches on September 26th on current gen consoles and PC.
