Helldivers 2 is right now rocking the charts. After several server backlashes, the game is well and truly living up way its expectations. Amidst all of these, Xbox fans are totally exempted from the fun, as this cooperative third-person shooter is only available on PlayStation 5 and Windows. So, is there any chance that Xbox users will ever land on the battlefield of this game?
As things stand, this might well become a reality. After the comment of Xbox boss Phil Spencer on games going cross-platform, fans of Microsoft’s console company are seeing some hopes regarding the game coming to their favorite platform. What’s the whole story, then? Let’s figure it out.
Is Helldivers 2 Coming to Xbox?
In the historic podcast held in February, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, announced that a lot of Xbox first-party titles will be going cross-platform. Initially, there were four games to start this journey: Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves. At that time, people were a bit disappointed, as they expected titles like Starfield and Indiana Jones to be on PlayStation. In this regard, Spencer responded:
I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform.
Even though there is no confirmation of these highly esteemed titles being on the rival platform, Spencer’s assuring words are keeping fans’ expectations alive.
However, this is not the only concern of the fans. On the other hand, Xbox fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Helldivers 2 on their platform. As Spencer told us not to rule out the possibility of a game going to any other platform, who knows, we can very well enjoy the Arrowhead Game Studios title on Xbox.
What Does Phil Spencer Have to Say About Helldivers 2?
After Spencer’s promising words, everyone was expecting a comment from him as well on Helldivers 2. In an interview for Stephen Totilo’s Game File newsletter, this is what the Xbox boss stated:
“I will say, when I look at a game like Helldivers 2, and it’s a great game, kudos to the team shipping on PC and PlayStation, I’m not exactly sure who it helps in the industry by not being on Xbox.”
These lines from the Head of Microsoft Gaming himself are proof that, despite the fact that there is no solid roadmap for Helldivers 2 to be on Xbox, the company clearly has something in mind regarding pulling the game onto their platform.
