People often point out that the title of the 1997 movie, Tomorrow Never Dies, makes no sense. There is actually a fair reason behind it. It was initially inspired by a Beatles song titled, “Tomorrow Never Knows,” however, a small typo in the title changed its entire meaning and the creators decided to go with it.

Before 1997’s Tomorrow Never Dies, all the titles of the James Bond movies came from Ian Fleming, the British novelist who created the novels about the spy. Actor Pierce Brosnan‘s first James Bond movie, GoldenEye (1995) was named after the property where Fleming wrote the novels.

Screenwriter Bruce Feirstein was then given the responsibility of coming up with the title of Brosnan’s second James Bond movie, and he struggled for quite some time. Finally, he heard a song titled, “Tomorrow Never Knows,” from the Beatles’ classic album, Revolver. Feirstein then came up with the title, “Tomorrow Never Lies.
