As players dive into the seas of Skull and Bones, there are many threats lingering in uncharted territories that players need to be wary of. From pirates (and players) who have everything locked and loaded against you to waters that may be traps waiting to destroy your reputation, the game poses monstrosities of all kinds.

However, there’s one particular entity swimming in the oceans that you need to be particularly careful about. There’s no cautionary tale in advance or stories you’ll hear where players make it out in one piece. Even if they do, they’ve had an experience that sends shivers down the spine.

So You Think Your Ship Is Big? This Sea Monster Is Bigger

Sea monsters in Skull and Bones are going to pose a challenge for you, regardless of how strong you believe your crew is. These mighty beasts look like alligators having a nice time in their favorite ocean, but they’re here to rip you and your reputation apart. Their HP even matches their size, throwing in your face a huge health bar that just doesn’t seem to go down.

It takes at least 10 minutes to make sure that you’re doing significant damage. And, when you aren’t shoving cannonballs in its face, you’re swerving your ship around to make sure you don’t completely go down when the beast swims up and shows you its true size. The thing’s scary enough as it is, and the big health bar doesn’t make the fight any easier.

What seems to be a banter between Ubisoft developers on X goes on to show the environmental details and planning that make this experience so thrilling. The sea monsters in Skull and Bones are PvE at its finest, giving every pirate a feel for what it’s like to be in the midst of an ocean that’s waiting to swallow you up.

Skull and Bones Is Testing Players’ Resilience Even Before Launch

Even though much of the game's difficulty can be predicted, beasts like sea monsters can completely put you off.

At the time of writing, Skull and Bones is set to launch within a week, on February 16. The game will arrive on the PS5, Xbox Series S/X, Microsoft Windows, and Amazon Luna. However, players who have been playing the Beta version of the game have seen quite a few updates and gameplay changes that are also planned once the game launches.

One of the key gameplay loops here relies on how players choose to access and explore the perilous seas of Skull and Bones. The game urges players to explore different playstyles and build on a system of reputation that takes them to their highest potential. However, this comes with its own challenges.

PvE and PvP are both dangerous worlds that players need to brave, and sea monsters would be the least of one’s worries. But hey, who doesn’t like a good old challenge that fits perfectly with the vibe of pirates who dare challenge the shifting tides and times of oceans beyond anyone else’s reach?

Skull and Bones is certainly making an attempt to let players experience the ultimate pirate fantasy.
