In a recent episode of the Official PlayStation Podcast, Jim Ryan, CEO of PlayStation, marked the end of his era and revealed some crazy stats about PS2. The retired Sony boss, when asked about the 2000s, had this to say:
“The 2000s? That would be, I would say, 160 million, which is the number of PS2s that we sold. A high watermark.”
With the above-mentioned stats, fans didn’t have any hesitations in giving the crown to the PS2 as the best console of all time.
However, there is some slight debate regarding this stat. Sony has stopped revealing the sales data of their second-generation consoles for over a decade now.

As per the last revealed statistics in 2012, Sony had sold around 155 million units of PS2. In January 2013, PS2 production was stopped.
