Hogwarts Legacy was released earlier this year on the 10th of February, much to the delight of Harry Potter franchise fans. The open-world game fulfilled every gamer’s wishes to live out their fantasy, wizard life, complete with robes and wands. While the game still retails at $69.99 for the PlayStation 5 edition, gamers on the console can try it for free for a limited time. Hogwarts Legacy does have a glitchy campaign, but a quick trial should help gamers get a feel for it before buying.

With Starfield hogging the headlines recently with rave reviews and Bethesda finally releasing a polished game, its absence in PlayStation may have left a void among players gaming on the console. This might be a good time to experience the wizarding world for free, here’s how to try it.

Glitches Marred Hogwarts Legacy Campaign, Combat Was Rated Highly

Fans of the Harry Potter franchise could never get tired of exploring the famed Hogwarts hallways, flying around on a broomstick, and lighting up dark caves with the “Lumos” spell in Hogwarts Legacy. Even those who have never followed the books or the movies the game is adapted from could still feel amazed at being there as long as they don’t mind the glitches. The glitches in the game spoiled the immersive experience as players found themselves falling through the map more than once, or seeing a character floating around much like a Bethesda game of the past.

Some NPCs can even be seen walking away while players are engaged in a conversation, leaving them stuck with talking to themselves. Combat in the game was a completely different story as it was a lot more challenging and quite captivating. Gamers rated combat in the game highly as they never got tired of dodging attacks, pulling enemies with the Accio spell, lighting them on fire with the Incendio spell, or combining all of the spells to make a fool of the enemies.

Here’s how PlayStation gamers can try out the game before they decide whether or not to buy it.

Gamers Can Play Hogwarts Legacy For Free, With Game Trials On PS Plus Premium

Hogwarts Legacy is now added to the Game Trials Library, but with a very short trial period
Hogwarts Legacy is now added to the Game Trials Library but with a very short trial period

Hogwarts Legacy is available for PS Plus Premium subscribers, as the game is added to the Game Trials library. The downside of this is that the trial version lasts 45 minutes only. It’s not a handful of time to properly check out the game as character creation and initial tutorial will use up most of the little time. Game Trials library is a good way for PlayStation gamers to check out new games post-launch, but with most titles having less than an hour of trial period, it has not been quite popular.

A couple of hours of trial could have been sufficient time for gamers to get a feel for an open-world RPG like Hogwarts Legacy, as most games take players through an intro or character creation screen or even a tutorial before starting the main campaign. Still, for players who just want to get a feel of the game, this could still be a brilliant way of checking the game.

Notable Titles Available With Games Trial On PlayStation

There are other games worthy of checking out in the Games Trial library, with a good amount of playtime as well. The 2018 PlayStation smash hit, God Of War: Ragnarok is available to play for 3 hours, which should give new PlayStation converts enough time to get a feel of what the exclusive, hit game has in store for them, if they decide to buy it.

Another exclusive that has been more than just a smash hit, is The Last Of Us, Part 1 with a trial time of 2 hours, which is not much but just about enough to understand the premise of the game. The Last Of Us, Part 1 spawned a successful live-action TV series as well, starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, bringing the emotional roller coaster of a story to the small screen. Persona 5 Royal is also a decent title for players to check out, with a trial period of 4 hours for gamers to enjoy all that the game has to offer.

Gamers getting the console for the first time this Fall or even the upcoming holiday season must definitely check out all the PlayStation exclusives and the subscription is a good place to start.
