PlayStation has gigantic news to drop during the upcoming showcase if Giant Bomb reporter Jeff Grubb is right.
After revealing information about Perfect Dark, Dragon Age, and other franchises, one of the biggest pieces of information he teased is game-changing. If things pan out the way he says they might, we might finally get an announcement for the PS5 Pro.
PlayStation’s Next Showcase Could Be a Massive One
Grubb laid it all down in a simple 11-minute video where he spoke about some of the information he’s picked up from his sources.
Regarding the upcoming May announcement, he explains that it’s still not determined whether it’s a State of Play or an event of some sort, but it’s most likely a showcase. He says:
What exactly is in there, I think we can probably expect to see news about the PS5 Pro.
Grubb elaborates that the last mid-gen refresh, the PS4 Pro, was also announced during a similar showcase, which is why he thinks that the May event will finally be when we get news about the next PS5 iteration.
He does clarify that this is speculation.
So, unfortunately, while it’s not a complete confirmation, it’s better than nothing. Grubb has been right about information before such as with industry event dates, reveals, Starfield being a Microsoft exclusive, and more.
For now, an official confirmation that the showcase is happening would be a great start.
Grubb Spills the Beans on Other Upcoming Games
Earlier, Grubb had stated that the Perfect Dark development was in a very rough stage, to the point that Microsoft was unsure of it. Currently, it’s being handled by Xbox’s internal studio, The Initiative.
In the video, he said that he spoke to more people involved in the development, and the game was looking good and coming together. He said that it’s expected that it’ll be in the Xbox showcase next month, but there’s no guarantee.
Regarding third parties, Grubb says that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would mostly be coming this calendar year, and announced at the Summer Game Fest.
Grubb also says that a new Astro game could be announced at the May showcase alongside the PS5 Pro, and he speculates that the game could be a launch title for the new console. He also guesses that Concord could be announced at the showcase as well, due to “the timing and circumstancial evidence.”
Sucker Punch is taking a longer time on Ghost of Tsushima 2, and Grubb assumes that the reason is a new Sly Cooper game in the works, which he feels could also be announced or teased at the showcase. He shares some Nintendo updates as well, regarding Fire Emblem, Mario, and other franchises.
